If you like castles or travel with children, you can almost turn this experience into a game, since for each place you will have, if you want, a castle to discover.

Despite our bad experience when the glass of our windshield broke, during this trip, it was a great trip that we recommend. A stone fell from the sky (literally) while driving made a break that had to be fixed for safety. Luckily we found a Carglass workshop in the Valencian Community. The staff was very attentive and quick and we didn't miss any of those beautiful castles during our trip.

Do not go! and discover with us the best attractions of the Valencian Community aboard our motorhome. You're going to love it!

Start the tour wherever you want! We describe it to you from north to south, passing through the provinces of Castellón, Valencia and Alicante

Province of Castellón, land of castles and beaches for your route through the Valencian Community in a motorhome

Peñíscola

One of the most visited tourist towns in Spain and one of the most beautiful on the Costa de Azahar. This town served as a refuge for the viceroy of Valencia and represents a cinema destination, which has served as the setting for several films and series such as "Game of Thrones", for its historic Papa Luna castle, the port and its beaches.

In Peñíscola, there is a paid motorhome area, near the beach, very clean and with essential services.

Morella

Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful villages in the interior of Castellón. Characterized by a magnificent trio declared a World Heritage Site: its medieval castle, the walls and the Santa Lucía aqueduct. Despite its medieval essence, Morella was inhabited since prehistory and proof of this are the cave paintings of Morella la Vella, six kilometers from the city, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

Morella has a motorhome area, less than 1,5 km from the town center, with free access.

Ares of the Maestrat

This town rises around a promontory, known as the Muela de Ares, crowned by the ruins of the castle, a beautiful medieval watchtower. A cave, now converted into a museum, completes the fortress with more than 40 meters of travel inside the stone. The town is fascinating for its historic center and many magical corners to discover.

There is a free motorhome area to park, although without services.

Vilafamés

Located in the interior of Castellón, between almond and olive trees, Vilafamés has been one of the favorite destinations for many artists captivated by its beauty.

This destination will delight you with its monuments, such as the Iglesia Parroquial de la Asunción with baroque architecture; for its castle of the s. fourteenth; for its archaeological sites, such as the Cova de Dalt del Tossal de la Font, and of course, for its wineries, which produce wines under the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) “Vins de les terres de Castelló”.

Vilafamés has an area to spend the night with your motorhome, well leveled and lit.

chulilla

A place that you cannot miss is this corner located in the Serranía. Chulilla can indeed brag about its cultural heritage, which includes both vestiges of ancient Roman and Mudejar times, such as its castle on the summit.

But Chulilla is much more than history, as it is surrounded by nature and trails to explore on foot or by bike. One of the great attractions is the route of the hanging bridges, the circular route of the Peneta Caves, walk up to jewish club (bathing area of the river Turia) and enjoy the Charco Azul, an oasis in the gorges of the Turia.

There is a parking lot for motorhomes to spend the night, 20 m from the CV-394 road. It is asphalted, somewhat uneven and has neither lighting nor services. At 50 m from the area there is a fountain.

Anna

Anna a few years ago was an ideal place in a motorhome, now although it is still an exceptional place, with its beautiful pools of water, it is not very camper-friendly. There is a lot of motorhome prohibited, and overnight stays are prohibited in its Albufera.

Buñol

Continuing through the interior you will find Buñol, a town known, above all, for its festival of international tourist interest. The Tomatina, which owes its origin to an altercation that took place during a parade in 1945 and in which several people ended up throwing tomatoes at each other.

Its old town, immortalized in several paintings by Sorolla; its Christian castle, based on the remains of a Muslim fortress: the neoclassical church of San Pedro and the natural environment that surrounds it, are just some of the charms of this destination.

You can park in the Natur Caravaning area with water change services and paid overnight stay, 15 minutes from Buñol.

Cullera

Cullera is a beautiful city of 21.000 inhabitants just 35km from Valencia, which is why it is the favorite destination of many families to park and visit Valencia from there. In Valencia, it is well worth spending a day in the City of Arts and Sciences, visit the Multipurpose research vessel or Turia Garden and Bioparc.

In Cullera you will have the opportunity to do all kinds of water sports, along its 15 kilometers of beach, and you will enjoy its great cultural heritage such as The Virgin of the Castle Sanctuary, Torre da Santa Ana or Tower of the Queen, Hermitage of the Virgen del Carmen, Parish Church of Santos Juanes and of course, its castle, a beautiful military architectural complex of Muslim origin located at the top of the Mountain of Foxes.

The overnight parking for motorhomes in Cullera is easily accessible and is located 100 m from the sea. It is an earthen enclosure, closed, well leveled, with lighting and guarded by city council personnel. It has no shadows, nor does it have emptying services or water intake.

Xativa

It is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, declared a historic-artistic complex. The Castle of Xàtiva is, without a doubt, the strongest dish, whose foundations were placed on Iberian and Roman remains. The medieval part of the castle is known as Castell Minor and around it was built the Castle Major, which gives it the form with which we know it today and where Gothic is mixed with Islamic architecture.

Do not stay, either, without seeing the collegiate basilica of Santa Maria or the royal hospital and if what you like is nature, we recommend a visit to the Natural Area of La Cova Negra.

In Xàtiva, 1 kilometer from the old town, there is a mixed and free car park that allows you to spend the night for a maximum of 24 hours.

Bocairent

In this unique enclave, a wonderful town with cobbled streets and an Arab spirit shines. The old town is beautiful and through its labyrinthine streets, its slopes and descents, you can reach, as if it were a game, any of its three hermitages.

The aqueducts and the public laundry are just some of the preserved wonders and, just 300 meters from the urban center, are The Covetes dels Moros, 53 caves excavated in the vertical ravine of La Fos and connected to each other, which very probably, according to some interpretations, served as a granary in the Andalusian period.

Spending the night in Bocairent implies not needing services and apart from some Pk x night available, many travelers have chosen to park on Sant Jaume street, among others.

Gandia

It is one of the best-known destinations in Valencia, among other things, for having been the place where the Borjas settled, one of the most influential and ambitious families of the Renaissance and who managed to bring the Duchy of Gandia to the international front page. It is for this reason that the Palau Ducal dels Borja is the great jewel of Gandia.

We recommend a walk through the old town to visit the Pías School Square, The Collegiate Church of Santa Maria y The viewpoint of the Borgias. And of course, we also encourage you to visit the port, the fish market and its beaches.

In front of the port of Gandia, in El Grau, there is a mixed car park that allows overnight stays. It does not have services.

Dénia

It is the capital of the Marina Alta region and a typically Mediterranean destination that welcomes a growing number of tourists, due to its beaches and its natural and maritime attractions.

The old town has no waste and a must see is the old fishing district of Denia, the under the sea. Among the network of streets in the neighborhood, Plaza de la Creu and Plaza San Antoni can be distinguished, which gives you the opportunity to have a drink in any of its bars. Between the two squares, you can see the playmobil sculpture that pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the film John Paul Jones in Dénia.

You can spend the night in the free motorhome area in Benissa for a maximum of 48 hours.

Calp

An emblematic and small coastal city dominated by the majestic Peñon d'Ifach, which has become a symbol of the region. It is a limestone mountain 332 m high and has exerted a strong attraction to humans for centuries. The hiking route that ascends the rock will more than compensate you with its views, which on clear days, can reach the islands of Ibiza and Formentera.

Don't miss either the salt pans (a hallmark of Calp), the Queen's Baths (some old Roman fish farms), the walls of the s. XV and the Torreon de la Peça.

In Calp there are a couple of payment areas with services.

Altea

It is one of the most beautiful towns in Spain that, due to its white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, seems to have come from an island in the Aegean Sea. Apart from its old town, its gastronomy and its beaches, you can enjoy exploring on foot or by bike any of the five routes of Caminos d'Altea, that will immerse you in the Altean rural landscape.

In Altea, there are payment areas for motorhomes. It is convenient to check that they are not closed depending on when we plan to go.

Sax

We finish our tour in Sax, a town with an authentic Arabic essence at the foot of the Sierra de Cabrera.

In Sax we can visit its majestic fortress castle, the Casa Museo Alberto Sols, (dedicated to the scientist who won the Prince of Asturias for Scientific Research) and, of course, the façade of the oldest house in the city (XNUMXth century), where you can see the coat of arms of the Inquisition, since the Commissioner of the Holy Office of the Inquisition, Mr. José Torreblanca, lived there.

And, despite the fact that nobody wants their vacation to come to an end, we say goodbye with a good taste in our mouths. Now, she touches you.

We wish you a very good route!
