Our experience: route and travel expenses in the Netherlands by motorhome
Summary of our trip to the Netherlands, Holland by motorhome
10 days in early August that we did after visiting 15 Belgium (See route by Belgium by motorhome here).
Our trip to the Netherlands, tried to flee from the big cities, which we had already known on other occasions, which are not too attractive in the middle of the Covid pandemic or with children. For this reason, we look for a lot of nature and charming towns and rural areas, which are the ones that we show you and recommend in the 10 destinations below.
Expenses of the 10-day route through the Netherlands in a motorhome
In total, this trip that we have made in a motorhome for 10 days in the Netherlands has an approximate cost of 2.0€ 00 uros, cost for all 4 that we are in the family.
Firstly, 900 euros is the cost of gasoline and tolls to go and return to Barcelona and move on this route through Belgium
Then you have to add the costs of overnight areas, campsites and parking lots which in total has been € 180 always sleeping in a camping or area as required by the law of the Netherlands.
Then we add the visits and tickets to the different places visited. A cost that has been 425€. Then spending on restaurants and hotels for € 300.
Also, remember that we go in our motorhome. Now, if you do not have a motorhome and you want to rent one, add about € 50-100 per day if you rent it in France or € 100-150 per day if you rent it in Spain approximately and that in the middle season.
Consequently, we always recommend to friends to rent a motorhome or van through Yescapa, a platform like air b and b, for rent between individuals with insurance through. It is cheaper and we have very good experiences with friends who have done it.
Finally, we recommend you rent a motorhome or camper in Yescapa from this link where Yescapa offers you the best offer: motorhome rental with Yescapa
The worst and also the best of our trip to Holland by motorhome
- Nature combined with cyclist routes. Take beautiful routes on bicycles through dams, marshes and beautiful channels.
- Move around by bicycle through flat and safe bike lanes.
- Finding out that we actually mean Holland wrong, the country is the Netherlands, Holland is just a region.
- Excellent security that is breathed throughout the country
- Discover the continuous struggle of man against water in the Netherlands
- The roads are mostly free, there are no tolls.
- Many activities designed for children and almost all museums are free for those under 12.
- We have loved the Dutch mini campsites, located on farms, among animals and with many services designed for children.
- One of the activities that surprised and liked us the most was walking through the Gouda canals by canoe and visiting the Gouda cheese experience, we loved it!
- Discover the impressive mills, the marshes of Biesbosh and an island without water, surprising places in the Netherlands.
- The prohibition of free overnight stays and having to always look for a campsite or motorhome area to spend the night
- There are no free motorhome areas, all overnight stays are paid.
- Overnight places are sometimes far from points of interest.
- The restoration in general is more expensive than in Spain and there are no menu options.
- The beaches full of algae and cloudy water, that despite the heat that we went through on our trip, we did not feel like bathing much hehehe
- That it's over so fast! 😛

Hello,
Thank you very much for helping us!
We have a motorhome and we want to travel to Amsterdam in April or May (tulip season)
We are from Barcelona
All the best
Thank you for your comment, it is a gift to receive it and it gives us energy and affection to be able to continue writing about our experiences. A hug.
Thank you very much for the information, we plan to travel to Belgium and Holland this summer and the extensive information and the map are great for me. I have seen in some photos that when you go with the bike you also carry a cart, it even seems to me that you help the little one with a rope, is it yours or did you rent it in Holland? How did you do with the little one? We are going with a 5-year-old boy and he gets very tired on the bike and from what I have read it is essential to be able to move with the bike.
All the best
PS: Congratulations on the organization of the Kucavana Fest, we had a great time.
Ainss thanks to you Helena, how we like these comments! It encourages us a lot to continue creating content and having meetings in this world:) Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Because of the car, it worked for us and it always works very well, it's ours, not only can the little one rest in it and tie the bike on top, but we can also take the groceries or the dog if necessary, hehe It's multipurpose. Of course, now what we use the most is an extensible rope that they sell for bikes and it works really well. You'll find it on Amazon, which is where I think we bought it, it's great to help them a bit on the slopes and not to get discouraged so they can keep pedaling 🙂 Thank you again and we're here for whatever you need.
Good
This month we are going to Belgium and the Netherlands, your page has been a great help!!!!!
The question is when you went up to the Netherlands, did you make stops? We have two children of 5 and 10.
I'm not sure where to stop
Thank you
We made a stop, but I don't remember exactly where. Normally we make stops just to sleep and just look at a town near the highway that has a safe place.
