Getaway to the Basque Country and Navarra in a motorhome: from Zegama to the source of the Urederra and to the Vitoria reservoir

My route proposal is a weekend getaway through the Basque Country and Navarre in a motorhome.

Go out on friday

The route begins by arriving on Friday afternoon to the town of Zegama. The natural environment that surrounds Zegama is, without a doubt, one of the main attractions of this small town in Gipuzkoa.

The place is located to the south of the Goierri region, at the head of the Oria river valley and at the foot of the Aizkorri Natural Park. This space is striking for its steep limestone ridges that rise above green meadows covered with lush forests. A show for the senses!

Here, when you arrive, we suggest you take a walk through the town and visit the relics of General Zumalacarregui, very famous for the Carlist wars. If you arrive early, you can do a route of the hundreds that are on the slopes of the Aizkorri and go through the San Andrés tunnel. Tip !: wear shoes because there is a lot of costs.

Plan for saturday

On Saturday we are going to Baquedano, Navarra soon, to discover the source of the Urederra. It is a river that has made Baquedano a well-known place in Navarre.

This small town in the valley of Las Améscoas is the starting point to visit a popular place where the Urederra is born. The images of the pools of intense turquoise blue trapped by the forest, They are a difficult claim to resist in any of the getaways that we consider in the area. Without a doubt, it is one of the attractions of the itinerary that we propose to enjoy Basque Country and Navarra by motorhome.

On this second day, you have to start early, since the route with children can be long but it compensates for the precious journey until the birth. An important fact! There is parking for motorhomes where the tickets are taken. As a practical trick, we recommend you buy online before.

Arrive on sunday

Finally, on Sunday we suggest you spend the day in the Garaio reservoir, near Vitoria to relax while taking a walk along the shore of it. Today is another great day on the route Basque Country and Navarra by motorhome.

Located within the municipality of Arrazua-Ubarrundia, the Ullíbarri-Gamboa reservoir, in addition to supplying water to Vitoria and the surroundings of Bilbao, serves as a leisure area as it is one of the most popular places to swim and do water sports in summer.

This spectacular swamp and place has two beaches awarded with the blue flag, for the quality of its setting and the services it offers. Take note! These are the beaches of Landa and Garaio.
