About A newbie in a motorhome
We are a family consisting of Leire (mother), Javi (father), and Hodei and Araia (children). Well… we have another furry child, a French bulldog named Bubu. We like spending time in nature, seeing castles…
The essence of our channel is to publish other people's videos to show DIY projects , interesting facts, and lately, our own videos where I also do some DIY projects and show what weekends are like with my friend Arturo and his family. Besides that… we do live streams on Sundays which are a lot of fun!
Getaway to the Basque Country and Navarra in a motorhome: from Zegama to the source of the Urederra and to the Vitoria reservoir
My route proposal is a weekend getaway through the Basque Country and Navarre in a motorhome.
Go out on friday
The route begins by arriving in the town of Zegama on Friday afternoon . The natural environment surrounding Zegama is undoubtedly one of the main attractions of this small town in Gipuzkoa.
The area is located in the southern part of the Goierri region, at the head of the Oria River valley and at the foot of the Aizkorri Natural Park . This landscape is striking for its steep limestone ridges that rise above verdant meadows covered in lush forests. A true spectacle for the senses!
When you arrive, we suggest taking a stroll through the village and visiting the relics of General Zumalacarregui, famous for the Carlist Wars. If you arrive early, you can choose from one of the hundreds of routes along the slopes of Aizkorri and walk through the San Andrés tunnel. Tip: Bring wheel chocks because it's quite steep.
Plan for saturday
On Saturday we're heading early to Baquedano, Navarre , to discover the source of the Urederra River . It's a river that has made Baquedano a well-known spot in Navarre.
This small village in the Las Améscoas valley is the starting point for visiting the popular source of the Urederra River. The images of the intense turquoise pools nestled within the forest are an irresistible draw for any getaway you might plan in the area. Without a doubt, it's one of the highlights of the itinerary we suggest for enjoying the Basque Country and Navarre by motorhome.
On this second day, it's best to start early, as the route with children can be long, but the beautiful walk to the spring makes it worthwhile. Important note: There's a campervan parking area where you can buy tickets. As a practical tip, we recommend buying them online beforehand.
Arrive on sunday
Finally, on Sunday we suggest spending the day at the Garaio reservoir, near Vitoria, to relax while taking a stroll along its shore. Today is another great day on our Basque Country and Navarre motorhome route.
Located within the municipality of Arrazua-Ubarrundia, the Ullíbarri-Gamboa reservoir, in addition to supplying water to Vitoria and the surroundings of Bilbao, serves as a leisure area as it is one of the most popular places to swim and do water sports in summer.
This spectacular reservoir and area boasts two Blue Flag beaches , awarded for the quality of their scenery and the services they offer. Take note! They are Landa and Garaio beaches.
