About us
We are the kucavana familyWe traveled with our two children, ages 8 and 11, and our adopted dog Max. We usually travel in our motorhome called Kucavana, hence the name of our blog (Anna as a baby didn't know how to say motorhome and said Kucavana), but we also like to travel by bicycle touring or by plane and backpacking. We enjoy every learning experience as a family and we hope to help you enjoy it as much as we do. We do it by traveling.

How to get to Poland
Before we dive into the fun, it's important to know how to get to Poland. You can choose fly directly to cities like Warsaw, Krakow or Gdansk, depending on your starting point.
Another interesting option is travel by motorhome, van, caravan or car and go by road, as I did with my family. It was an exciting adventure and allowed us to have complete freedom to explore Poland with the kids!
TIP: If you don't have a motorhome or camper but want to rent one and try this type of trip, remember that the cheapest way and with the best experiences is to rent between individuals for a AirB&B type platform but for motorhomes and campers.
To get to Poland by road, we left Barcelona and crossed France and Germany, arriving in Poland in 48 hours (we went without intermediate visits stops) through its neighboring Czech Republic.
You can see the whole account of the trip we made to Poland by motorhome in our blog.
10 Tips for traveling to Poland with children
Before we start our tour of the must-sees of Poland with children, I want to share with you some useful tips:
- Pack your suitcase with suitable clothing for all seasons, as the weather in Poland can be variable.
- If you don't want to play with family health during your trip to Poland, we advise you to take out travel insurance for any unforeseen event on your route, apart from taking your European health card. Public health there is worse than in Spain, don't risk it. We take out this insurance with this 5% discount that we leave you here and that it was very good for us without being expensive: https://www.iatiseguros.com/?r=91629602761576
- Make sure you have enough supplies and toys to entertain the little ones during the trip.
- research and choose activities and attractions that are age-appropriate of your kids. Poland offers a wide variety of options for all ages. Leisure options are not lacking, It is one of the countries that we have visited with the most leisure companies and tourist activities that we have seen in Europe. You may find a zip line park or an amusement park in the smallest town, don't be surprised to see it hehehe. Book free tours and activities for the little ones hereFor us, this website was a great ally and we were able to book guided tours in Spanish that the little ones enjoyed a lot with the Polish guides who spoke perfect Spanish.
- Poland is in the European Union, so the roaming It works perfectly and the cost of your data and calls will be the same as if you were in Spain. Of course, there are telephone companies that limit data, before leaving, ask your company about your roaming conditions.
- Pay attention to opening and closing hours of the places you want to visit, especially if you are traveling with small children. Organize your itinerary so that you can make the most of the time available.
- Do not forget try the delicious Polish gastronomy. Try traditional dishes with your little ones like pierogi (stuffed dumplings), zapiekanka (au gratin baguette) and oscypek (smoked cheese). Your children will surely enjoy the gastronomic experience!
- In Poland the currency is the ZLOTY, so for the currency exchange I advise you to pay whenever you can on a credit card that is usually used almost everywhere. Also remember always put Sloty to payment when asked the dataphone when paying with the card or at the ATM when withdrawing money to get the best change. For the credit card we recommend a card that is easily activated in minutes from the Internet and that allows unlimited top-ups so that you can pay at the currency exchange with 0 commissions and the best currency exchange. The only bad thing that we see is that you can only withdraw 200 euros a month at maximum without commission, otherwise one of the best cards without commissions to travel around the world that we have had, the Revolut. On the other hand, remember to bring some cash too, there are small places that still do not accept card in Poland.
- Make the most of parks and green spaces that you find on your way. Poland has a large number of national parks, nature reserves and gardens where your children can run, play and enjoy outdoor activities.
- To stay with children We recommend you travel by motorhome or van or always choose apartments To make everything easier for you with the little ones, having a kitchen is always a great ally with the little ones. You can see options and Booking offers in Poland here, the platform we use when looking for apartments.
Finally, remember that The most important thing is to enjoy every moment in the company of your children.s. Let them participate in planning the trip and listen to their opinions and wishes.
