Le Bournat Theme Park, a must to do in the Dordogne with children

Located in the town of Le Bugue, we find this theme park that shows what life was like in France in 1900. It is worth investing the whole day in your visit as it offers many things to see and do.

The lively 'village' of Le Bournat offers an interesting and educational insight into life in times past. Each building has been equipped with authentic tools, machines and furniture of the time and during the tour, people dressed as in the past show us how each of the trades was carried out using tools from 1900: wood carvers, potters, basket weavers, sharpeners of knives, clogs and much more.

There is a working windmill that makes flour that you can buy and take home. A baker takes the flour and produces loaves of bread which are then baked in the traditional bread oven. There is also a brewery where you can taste homemade beer ...

In addition to these activities inside the buildings, outside you can see a shepherdess and her dog herding a flock of geese around the park, you can see a harvest being harvested and you can admire the herb garden and farm animals found in the village.

 Fun among animals

Farm animals are those that would have been found on a farm in the 1900s and include geese, chickens, cows, sheep, goats, and rabbits. There is also an island of animals surrounded by water and you can row a boat around the island and see the cattle with their long horns that live on the island.

Scattered around the town is a fascinating collection of vintage machines, including an old hand-pulled fire truck and an old alembic.

Throughout the day there are various animations such as horseback riding and carriage riding or participating in a baking workshop. Knife woodcarving, wheat weaving, pottery, calligraphy and many more are also offered.
