La Vall d'Aran what to see

Our experience

For us, the Aran Valley was a little unknown, since we had been but to ski and go through Vielha, but we did not know its towns or its mountains. Although we have to say, we had many things to see and visit.

Its landscapes are brutal, a paradise next to home where there is water everywhere and in summer everything is green.

La Vall d'Aran what to see and do

In Vielha we requested information from tourism, but when we said that we were going with children and a motorhome, then they put some drawbacks when proposing routes (they don't know that children, if they get used to walking, can do very cool routes). The excursions that we were able to do and we recommend are:

Sauth deth Pish waterfall

Visiting the Sauth deth Pish, is a spectacular waterfall, they say it is one of the most beautiful in Europe. Perhaps in summer it does not drop as much water as in spring and we do not find it so spectacular, but it is beautiful to visit. Access by motorhome is easy, although to access it you have to go through a forest track for 12 kilometers that is a bit narrow. The route does not go 1 km to the waterfall but we walked a bit through the environment that was very beautiful.

Uelhs deth Joeu waterfall

Another very accessible and feasible route to do with children is to visit the Uelhs deth Joeu waterfall. The water that runs down this waterfall is water from the Aneto glacier. In summer they enable a parking lot and take you with tourist trains to the waterfall, we walk up following the trails next to the parking lot, well marked to the waterfall. A forest that looks like fairies and elves.

Route from Pla de Beret to Montgarri

Route from Pla de Beret to Montgarri, a very easy route with a very beautiful landscape. There is a forest track that some motorhomes and cars access Montgarri and park right next to the refuge. We prefer to walk, the path is very well marked and the landscape is very beautiful. Getting to the refuge and seeing the sanctuary is an idyllic landscape. You will find many cyclists who pass through there doing the Pedals de Foc route. We slept in the Pla de Beret in the parking lot (N 42 ° 43'35.0328 ”E 0 ° 57'46.5984”) but watch out for the cows…. A cow woke us up by scratching on our headlight or taillight.

Visit the most beautiful villages in the Valle d'Aran: Salardú, Arties, Begergue ...

The villages of the Aran Valley are very beautiful, we really liked Salardu, Arties, Lles, but the one we liked the most and recommend visiting if you go with children is Bagerge. A small town where all the houses are decorated with flowers and painted stones, but the funniest thing is that in order to visit the town there is an orientation race with different beacons located in different parts of the town. You need a mobile and follow the clues that they give you when you scan the QR code of the beacons. If you have done well, a cartoon appears on the mobile screen.

Where to spend the night and park in a motorhome or camper in the Vall de Boí

The first two nights we were in the Vielha area @valdarancamperpark (N 42 ° 42'45.3672 «E 0 ° 47'52.5588»). An area located 1km from the center of Vielha, where we were treated very well and we were able to do many washing machines.

Then we slept in the Pla de Beret in the parking lot (N 42 ° 43'35.0328 ”E 0 ° 57'46.5984”) but watch out for the cows…. A cow woke us up scratching at our headlight or taillight.
