1 getaway proposal and 5 things to know about Terrades in l'Alt Empordà by motorhome
What to know before visiting Terrades by motorhome or camper?
Terrades, micro-village of cherry trees, the Santuario de la Salut and more
1 La Salut (Health in Catalan) de Terrades belongs to the tiny village of Terrades . A municipality of barely 200 inhabitants, 12 km from Figueres. A primarily agricultural and livestock-raising municipality. Where cherry orchards stand out in its landscape.
The Cirera Fair , on the first weekend of June, is undoubtedly one of the great attractions of Terrades along with the Sanctuary of La Salut, the Hermitage of Santa Magdalena and the Castle of Palau Surroca (private).
It is undoubtedly a micro-municipality worth visiting by motorhome or camper. Strolling through its streets with its reddish country-style stone houses or among its cherry fields is a joy that gives peace to the soul. And if you also drop by its bakery, you will discover the authentic Catalan pagés bread. For me I am from Figueres, one of the best in the area.
La Salut de Terrades, place for a barbecue and a good picnic with incredible views
2 La Salut de Terrades is not just a simple sanctuary. Here, you'll find the best views of the Alt Empordà region. The best views over the salt flats, the Bassegoda mountain, and the Boadella reservoir.
You can see vineyards of the best Denomination of Origin wines from l'Empordà and even on clear days Cap de Creus and the sea.
The best part is that with these incredible views and in good shade you can have a barbecue and a nice picnic, next to the Salut fountain.

3. What to see and do in La Salut de Terrades? In La Salut de Terrades, you'll discover the charm of the more rural and natural interior of the Alt Empordà. A place to enjoy nature, beautiful views over the Empordà Plain, tranquility, and spirituality.
What you absolutely must see is the Sanctuary of La Salut . Over 300 years old, it's a beautiful place, full of peace.
There's a legendary route in the area, the trail to Santa Magdalena, a small and beautiful hermitage nestled high on the rocky mountain. A lovely, enjoyable path with unbeatable views.
And if you enjoy activities , you're in luck. In La Salut de Terrades, you'll also find horseback riding and pony excursions . A 15-minute pony ride costs €5, or a one-hour horseback ride is €22. There are also three-hour horseback riding excursions (€60) or full-day excursions that include lunch (€115). And if you go down to Darnius, just 15 minutes away, on the Boadella Reservoir , there's a nautical club where you can enjoy activities like kayaking, among others.

4. Enjoying a roast chicken or a good set menu is also possible in La Salut de Terrades. If you don't feel like cooking, you're in luck. Right next to the horses, opposite the parking lot, you can enjoy a perfect little bar where you can have a roast chicken or a drink.
And if you want to eat a good menu, the guesthouse at the Santuario de la Salut de Terrades makes delicious meals, in addition to being able to sleep in their recently renovated rural rooms.

5. At La Salut de Terrades, you can park your motorhome or campervan right in front and even spend the night there without any problems. The GPS coordinates for this parking area are: 42.325298, 2.833850 . Click on the coordinates to open the map.
It is a large car park in the middle of nature where you can access the Sanctuary, picnic area, hostel, chicken stall at Ast, horses and start of the route to Santa Magdalena.
The road is narrow like all the rural ones, but there is no difficulty and it is paved. The place is beautiful and well worth it.
But above all, with strong tramontana streaks we strongly advise against going up there.
