Sant Joan de l'Erm: what to see and do
In the Castellbó valley, we found an exceptional and unique spot. It was recommended by @blankaonroad, and it was spot on. We were able to relax and take excursions around the fantastic Nordic ski slopes in winter. In winter, you can ski, sled, and enjoy some really cool snowshoeing excursions here.
In summer you can enjoy the area as well.
There is a shelter, restaurant and a picnic area with barbecues at the same ski resort, which is closed in summer.
What we liked most was being able to share that unique space with the horses that came to greet you and look for food.
Many excursions can be made there; well-marked trails start from there, and there is even one accessible for wheelchairs or strollers with a raised wooden platform, around which there are very educational information panels about the fauna and flora .
A recommended excursion is to the hermitage of San Joan de l'Erm Vell. On our excursions, we pick strawberries and even some mushrooms in the middle of summer.
Where to spend the night and park in a motorhome or camper in Sant Joan de l'Erm
At the entrance to the ski resort, in front of the picnic area, you can park and spend the night in the station's car parks, as long as you do not camp under any circumstances.
Another alternative is to use the camping area that is right at the end of everything for a small price, where you can camp.
Finally, for those who like mountain huts, you have a beautiful and very pleasant refuge.
