However, with good planning and a well-organized route , it's possible to discover the city's highlights and gain a clear understanding of its beauty and charm, as well as enjoy some truly cool experiences.

Seeing Seville in a day requires prioritizing . That's where I come in with my family, because after two visits to this beautiful Spanish capital, I know it well and can help you.

If you're looking for an efficient and memorable way to see Seville in a day , this one-day Seville itinerary is perfect for you. From the most iconic landmarks to the most charming and hidden gems that I wouldn't miss , this itinerary will undoubtedly show you the best of the city.

I'll summarize it here, but later I'll detail each place you can see, a little bit of the history of the place and everything you need to know about each point. Oh, and at the end of the memorable route there's an interactive map to make the route easy.

Where to stay in Seville: starting point

We begin this route summary in the Santa Cruz neighborhood , where I recommend staying in one of its centrally located apartments. The last one we stayed in in Seville was, in my opinion, unbeatable, and the price was excellent. It was called Numa Jondo , in case you want to check it out because it truly offers some of the best value for money. The location couldn't be more central, making it ideal for saving time.

Morning route

From here, we'll have a delicious breakfast of churros with chocolate at La Calenteria , a Seville classic. We'll continue towards the Cathedral and the Giralda , two iconic landmarks of the city. On the way, we'll stroll through the Murillo Gardens with their impressive enormous ficus trees and admire the old Tobacco Factory, which is now one of the largest faculties of the University of Seville. Finally, we'll visit the Puerta de Jerez , a square where there's always something happening, from flamenco dancers to artists playing the Spanish guitar.

Our route then takes us through the photogenic Plaza de España , where the elegant atmosphere and spectacular architecture will leave us speechless.

Midday route

From there, we'll cross the San Telmo Bridge into Triana, a neighborhood steeped in history and tradition, with incredible views of the Torre del Oro . For lunch, we'll enjoy a unique culinary experience on Calle Betis. We recommend the Río Grande restaurant; it's not cheap, but it's spectacular and not the most expensive on the street either.

After lunch, we will explore the streets of Triana on a highly recommended free tour in the midday-afternoon , such as the alley of the Inquisition or the alley of the corralas , we will learn about its ceramics and we will stroll along the banks of the Guadalquivir.

Seville afternoon on our 1-day route through Seville

We started the afternoon by visiting the Royal Alcázar, taking a guided tour to avoid queues and not miss anything (price-quality is worth it) , an architectural gem that will transport us to another era.

As a final touch, we will visit Calle del Agua, the impressive Santa María la Blanca church inside, and the Flamenco Dance Museum, ending with a fantastic flamenco show at 19pm.

Waking up in the heart of the Santa Cruz neighborhood

Start your day in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, the most emblematic and central neighborhood in Seville. Without a doubt, my recommendation for starting this route and staying in Seville.

 If you are lucky enough to stay here, you will be surrounded by narrow streets full of history and very close to the main tourist attractions. This neighborhood is perfect for starting the day with energy and in direct contact with the essence of Seville.

Our chosen apartment in this neighborhood on our last visit was Numa Jondo , which I would definitely stay in again. It has a kitchen, living room, bedrooms, and bathrooms, all spacious and full of thoughtful touches (even shower gel and shampoo, a hairdryer, a Nespresso coffee machine and capsules, a washing machine, and a dishwasher… imagine!).

Chocolate with churros at the La Calentería churrería

There's no better way to start the morning than with a good hot chocolate accompanied by churros or porras (my favorites). La Calentería , a classic in the city, is the ideal place to enjoy this traditional breakfast. Sweet, energizing, and delicious!

There's no seating inside except for 3 stools, but it has a great terrace outside , with heaters for the winter and the waiters are lovely.

Murillo Gardens and the Puerta de Jerez

On your way to your next stop, after breakfast and those churros with chocolate, stroll through the Murillo Gardens , a green space with several impressively large, centuries-old ficus trees that will make you feel like you're in an urban oasis. Not even the sequoias compare!

From there, continue towards the Puerta de Jerez , passing by the luxury Hotel Alfonso XIII and the old Tobacco Factory , the first in Europe and which today is a headquarters of the University of Seville.

At the Puerta de Jerez, you can admire the fountain of Hispalis (Seville in Latin) surrounded by horse-drawn carriages. If you are lucky, you might see a rehearsal of a procession, as happened to us on our visit in January. A very authentic and unique experience to see Seville in one day!

Anything can happen at Puerta de Jerez, it is one of the most lively squares, with artists dancing flamenco or playing the Spanish guitar, among others.

Seville Cathedral and the Giralda

From the Puerta de Jerez, head towards the majestic Seville Cathedral , one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site . The cathedral is spectacular inside.

The visit has a cost , and I recommend taking a guided tour so they can tell you the anecdotes and the whole history of this place, which is not to be missed.

If you want to see it without paying, you can only do so during masses, which are rather rare and if they see you as a tourist they will give you the go-ahead.

Complete your experience by exploring the hidden corners of Maria Luisa Park, right next to Plaza de España, a perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. There are also ducks and geese that children will love. You might find a market in Maria Luisa Park, like we did, but what you absolutely must do is visit the duck pond and then climb up to the viewpoint.

Crossing the San Telmo bridge will take you to the Triana neighborhood. Before reaching it, you'll see the beautiful little palace called the Queen's Sewing Room.

This neighborhood is known for its Andalusian essence , its views of the Torre del Oro and its unique charm.

If you want a perfect panoramic view of the neighborhood, first stop for a moment next to the Costurero de la Reina before entering the streets of Triana. 

What to see in Triana Sevilla in one day? Its views and authenticity will surprise you. Here are a few more details:

Luxury food on Betis street, with views of the Torre del Oro

On Betis Street, with views of the Guadalquivir River and the beautiful Torre del Oro, the Río Grande restaurant offers you an unforgettable gastronomic experience. Here you can enjoy typical Sevillian dishes made with fresh, quality products. A meal with a view always tastes better! 

This place is undoubtedly one of the best in Seville, thanks to the quality of the food, the views, and the service. It's not cheap, but it's not the most expensive on Calle Betis either . A meal with some shared appetizers and a main course will cost you around 30-40 euros. For me, it's worth it for the quality and the views of the Torre del Oro and the Guadalquivir River.

If you want to eat cheaper, there are taverns on Calle Alfalfa and the surrounding area that offer better prices.

Discover Triana by wandering around

After lunch, explore the streets of Triana , famous for its ceramics and history . This neighborhood is the perfect place to stroll, discover artisan workshops, and connect with the most authentic Seville.

In Triana, don't miss walking up Betis Street to the Triana Bridge. There, visit the Triana Market , peek into a corrala (a courtyard with low houses), stroll through the alleyway of the Inquisition, see the Castle of San Jorge , and explore the banks of the Guadalquivir River where people fish . Finally, visit the Ceramics Museum and some of the ceramic shops nearby.

I had previously visited the Alhambra in Granada, and I assure you that I liked the Royal Alcázar even more than the Alhambra.

That's why you should mark it as a must-see. And it's absolutely essential to do it with the guided tour , which is incredibly cool and also saves you from the enormous queues to get in (yes, even if you have a ticket there's still a queue... only with the guided tour do you get in directly without queuing).

Its Mudéjar architecture, its endless gardens, and its unique details make it one of the most beautiful places in the world . If you're looking for how to see Seville in a day, the Alcázar is a must-see, truly.

Calle del Agua and Santa María la Blanca to finish off in the afternoon

Upon leaving the Alcázar, stroll along Calle del Agua (Water Street), where you'll see on the city wall at the end of the street why it's called that. In Seville, street names are very simple, nothing complicated. So imagine what you were doing on that street and what you'll see on the wall: water, the old canals that carried water to the houses of Seville.

If you have plenty of time and it's not too late, try to visit the Church of Santa María la Blanca (check on Google first to see if it's open). This lesser-known but charming church is perfect for a quick stop on your way to the next destination. The interior is stunning; this church is a real surprise and well worth a visit.

To end your day, enjoy a flamenco show at the Flamenco Dance Museum . This venue combines a museum visit with art and passion in a show that will give you goosebumps. One of the must-do things to do in Seville in a day!

The Flamenco Dance Museum belongs to Cristina Hoyos , one of the most renowned flamenco dancers in our country, and classes are also taught in this building, so it can be deduced that it is one of the best places to see quality flamenco.

The show we saw featured three dancers, two singers, and a guitarist , and I assure you it was top-notch. Highly, highly recommended, truly.

Macarena and Las Setas neighborhood

Before or after dinner, take a stroll through the Macarena neighborhood, the most central commercial area, and visit Las Setas, a modern structure that contrasts with the city's traditional architecture.

At Las Setas, you can take a picture with the Seville letters and you can go up to its viewpoint where you will have spectacular night views, although it is not free and at night there is also a light show.

Seeing Seville in one day on foot is possible and very rewarding, although you can already see that you will end up tired, right? Prepare your feet.

Garlochí: an unforgettable drink to round off the things to do in Seville in one day

End your day with a visit to Garlochí , an iconic church bar where you can try the legendary "Sangre de Cristo" (Blood of Christ) , a cocktail of grenadine, whiskey, and cava that I assure you is quite delicious if you have a sweet tooth.
