About us

We are the kucavana familyWe travel with our two children and our adopted dog, Max. We usually travel in our campervan, Kucavana, hence the name of our blog (as a baby, Anna couldn't pronounce "campervan" and said "Kucavana"). But we also enjoy traveling by bicycle, by plane, and backpacking—the point is to have adventures as a family. The one writing this is me, Pilar, the mom of the family and perhaps the craziest one. I enjoy every family learning experience and I hope to help you enjoy it as much as we do. We do it by traveling.

First of all: Can you see Seville in one day?

The short answer is: yes, but with nuances, like everything in life.

Seville is an inexhaustible city. Rich in history, art and culture, meaning that a day barely scratches the surface of all it has to offer. However, with a good planning and a well-organized route, it is possible to know the essential of the city and get a clear idea of its beauty and charm, as well as enjoying some really cool experiences.

See Seville in one day involves prioritizing. And that's why I come in with my family, who after 2 visits I know this beautiful Spanish capital well and I can help you.

La Cathedral with its majestic Giralda, the Plaza de España and the Real Alcázar are essential visits that cannot be missed on your itinerary. In addition, getting lost in the Barrio de Santa Cruz, with its narrow streets and flower-filled courtyards, will make you feel the essence of the most traditional and historic Seville with its mill wheels and crosses embedded in the walls.

In one day, you won't be able to explore every corner, but you will get an incredible glimpse of its historical and cultural heart. Triana, crossing the Guadalquivir and enjoy its views of the tower of Gold, or simply sit on a terrace to enjoy some tapas main course while listening to the sound of a flamenco guitar, will leave you wanting to come back. And all of this can be done and seen in one day and on foot, due to the short distances involved.

Ultimately, although one day is not enough to cover everything that Seville has to offer, it is more than enough time to fall in love with this unique city and plan your return. Come on, I won't go on and on and tell you the perfect route for one day in Seville!

What to see in Seville in one day along the route that I propose to you, unbeatable

Below, I will detail the route summarized above in more detail about Each of the places that I suggest you visit and see to Plans I suggest you do in Seville as essential for 24 hours in Sevillea.

Plaza de las Cruces in the central district of Santa Cruz. A neighborhood full of crosses for Muslim converts to Christianity to kneel before to demonstrate their conversion.
Plaza de las Cruces in the central district of Santa Cruz. A neighborhood full of crosses for Muslim converts to Christianity to kneel before to demonstrate their conversion.

Waking up in the heart of the Santa Cruz neighborhood

Start your day in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, the most emblematic and central neighborhood in Seville. Without a doubt, my recommendation for starting this route and staying in Seville.

If you are lucky enough to stay here, you will be surrounded by narrow streets full of history and very close to the main tourist attractions. This neighborhood is perfect for starting the day with energy and in direct contact with the essence of Seville.

Our chosen apartment in this neighborhood on our last visit was the Deeper Number I would definitely stay here again. It has a kitchen, living room, bedrooms and bathrooms, all spacious and full of details (even shower gel and shampoo, hairdryer, Nespresso coffee machine and capsules, washing machine and dishwasher... just imagine!).

Mill wheels that you can see on the streets of the Santa Cruz neighborhood. They were used to prevent the walls of the houses from being scratched when the carriages passed through those narrow streets and the more wheels there were, the more money they had, a "period posturing" in other words.

Chocolate with churros at the La Calentería churrería

There is no better way to start the morning than with a good cup of coffee.Hot chocolate accompanied by churros or porras (my favorites). La Calentería, a classic in the city, is the ideal place to enjoy this traditional breakfast. Sweet, energizing and delicious!

It doesn't have room to sit inside more than 3 stools, but it has a large terrace outside, with heaters for the winter and the waiters are lovely.

Giant ficus in the Murillo Gardens

Murillo Gardens and the Puerta de Jerez

On the way to your next stop, after breakfast, and having those porras with chocolate, walk through the Murillo Gardens, a green space with several impressively large century-old ficus trees that will make you feel like you're in an urban oasis. Not even the redwoods!

From there, continue towards the Jerez Gate, passing by the luxury Hotel Alfonso XIII and the old Tobacco Factory, the first in Europe and today a headquarters of the University of Seville.

At the Puerta de Jerez, you can admire the fountain of Hispalis (Seville in Latin) surrounded by horse-drawn carriages. If you are lucky, you might see a rehearsal of a procession, as happened to us on our visit in January. A very authentic and unique experience to see Seville in one day!

Anything can happen at Puerta de Jerez, it is one of the most lively squares, with artists dancing flamenco or playing the Spanish guitar, among others.

Seville Cathedral and the Giralda

From the Puerta de Jerez head to the majestic Cathedral of Sevilla, one of the largest Gothic temples in the world and World Heritage Site by UNESCOThe cathedral is spectacular inside.

La Visit has cost and what I recommend is to do it with tour so that they can tell you the anecdotes and the whole history of this place, which is not to be missed.

If you want to see it without paying, you can only do so during masses, which are rather rare and if they see you as a tourist they will give you the go-ahead.

Do not forget climb the Giralda, its iconic tower, from where you will get spectacular views of the city. If you are wondering what to do in Seville in one day, this is an essential stop, without a doubt one of the things to see in Seville in one day.

Plaza de España and Maria Luisa Park

The morning tour culminates in the impressive Plaza de España and Maria Luisa Park.

Turn around and look behind the Tobacco Factory towards the Plaza de España

This place is pure magic: majestic architecture, tiles that tell the history of the provinces of Spain and, often, live music from flamenco guitarists.

Complete the experience by exploring the corners of the Maria Luisa Park, Right next to Plaza de España, a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. There are also ducks and geese that children will love. In the María Luisa Park you may find a market like we did, but what you should not forget to do is go to the duck pond and then go up to the viewing point.

There is no shortage of things to see in Seville in one day here!

Luxury food on Betis street, with views of the Torre del Oro

On Betis Street, with views of the Guadalquivir River and the beautiful Torre del Oro, the Río Grande restaurant offers you an unforgettable gastronomic experience. Here you can enjoy typical Sevillian dishes made with fresh, quality products. A meal with a view always tastes better!

The place is one of the best in Seville without a doubt, for the quality of the food, views and service attention. The price is not cheap, but it is not the most expensive either. Betis street. A shared meal with a starter and a second course will cost you around 30-40 euros. For me it's worth it for the quality and the views of the Torre del Oro and Guadalquivir.

If you want to eat cheaper, there are taverns on Calle Alfalfa and the surrounding area that offer better prices.

Afternoon visit to the Real Alcázar, a must see

El Real Alcázar is a must-see stop on your day in Seville. This palace, too Heritage, is a place that will leave you speechless. The first time I saw it I was captivated by its beauty. I had previously been to the Alhambra in Granada, and I assure you that the I liked the Real Alcázar even more than the Alhambra.

So, write it down as essential. E It is essential to do it with the guided tour that is brutally cool and on top of that you you avoid the huge queues that there is to enter (yes, and even if you have a ticket there is a queue… only with the guided tour you enter directly without queues).

Su Mudejar architecture, its endless gardens and its unique details make it one of the most beautiful places in the worldIf you're looking for how to see Seville in one day, the Alcázar is a must, really.

Calle del Agua and Santa María la Blanca to finish off in the afternoon

When leaving the Alcázar, walk along the Water Street, where you will see on the wall at the end of the street why it is called that way. In Seville the names of the streets are very simple, nothing fancy. So imagine passing through that street and what you will see on the wall: water, the old channels that carried water to the houses of Seville.

If you have time and it is not too late, try to get to the church of Santa Maria la Blanca (Check on Google first to see if it is open). This lesser-known but charming temple is perfect for a short stop on the way to the next stop. Inside it is amazing, a real surprise, this church is well worth a stop.

Can you visit Seville in one day? Of course, with this route! You can see it, right?

The show we saw had 3 dancers, 2 singers and a guitarist And I assure you that it was first class. Highly recommended, really.
