What to know before visiting Morlaix in French Brittany?

Morlaix France. In French Brittany in Finistere, at the top left of these mystical and magical lands, is Morlaix.

Perhaps it is a little known population. It is certainly not one of the most touristic in French Brittany, but it deserves a stop to see it and to get closer to the great prehistoric attraction of Cairn de Bernénez, close to the town.

With this article we will bring you closer to a mini Morlaix France travel guide based on our experience.

Mini guide to Morrlaix, France, of 5 things to know:

1 Morlaix Brittany, maritime village

Morlaix, in Finestere, is a lively town. Close to the sea, which plays on a channel. At the end of the canal, already in the town of Morlaix France, we find a port full of boats. Boats that at low tide are anchored to the land, offering a surprising and desolate landscape.

2 The Morlaix viaduct

But if there is one thing that stands out from Morlaix in French Brittany, it is its impressive viaduct where the trodavía trains pass, saving the depth of the valley.

You can enter halfway up the viaduct saving its arches and from there contemplate the impressive views of the city.

Crossing the viaduct is a must for lovers of photography and intagramers.

3 Half-timbered houses, a typical village in French Brittany

The half-timbered houses in the center of Morlaix France are beautiful and on market days (Saturdays) the squares are lively and bustling. Where you can buy fresh oysters at a good price or even an alast chicken.

The Duchess Anna's house can be visited for € 2. Definitely a good opportunity to discover the architecture of the last century and these typical houses of French Brittany.

4 An incredible time to visit Morlaix: Christmas

At Christmas until January 5, in front of the Town Hall, there is a small Christmas market, with a small ice rink (plastic more than ice). You have to go before 19:XNUMX pm they close, but the small Christmas market is worth it. Drinking a mulled wine, some oysters or buying a Christmas gift is worth it, while you contemplate the Christmas lights.

5 Morlaix in motorhome, an exceptional ac area

In Morlaix, if you go in a motorhome, you are in luck. There is a free motorhome area. With all services, except electricity.

It is 5 minutes from the center on foot and next to there is a supermarket. So it is a good place to rest and stop if you are going on a motorhome route through French Brittany.
