As a motorhome traveling family for years, with two children, we have traveled through Europe in a motorhome, and without a doubt, visiting Disneyland in this type of vehicle has been one of the most exciting moments for our little ones, so much so that we have enjoyed the experience! up to three times!

Before we dive into the adventure, let me tell you how to get to Disneyland Paris by motorhome from Spain.

The best option is to plan a route where you can enjoy some leisure time, visit various places along the way , and, if you're traveling with small children, make it an entertaining and varied trip so you don't spend so many hours on the road.

On our two trips to Disneyland in a motorhome , we left the province of Barcelona and chose to cross the border at La Jonquera. We then traveled through central France, passing through the Loire Valley all the way to Paris. This is a beautiful route, full of surprises, through the charming villages of the Dordogne, Périgord, and Loire , where we took the opportunity to visit enchanting towns, beautiful castles, and enjoy the local French cuisine.

If you're leaving from the north, south, or center of Spain, the best option is probably to cross the border at Irún and travel along the Atlantic coast of France until you enter the Loire Valley and arrive in Paris.

TIP!: At the Irún border crossing , be careful with your motorhome's weight . It's the only place we've seen them stop and weigh us. As you know, we have to weigh less than 3500 kg, and that's difficult with family motorhomes over 7 meters long… so be careful. The good news is that they fine you, but they let you continue, which doesn't happen in Switzerland, for example, where if you're overweight, they'll put the wheel clamp on and won't release you until you reach the correct weight.

Where to sleep in a motorhome at Disneyland Paris

Arriving at Disneyland Paris in a campervan is just the beginning of the fun. Now, let's talk about where to park and sleep . You have several options for overnight stays in your campervan near the park.

Disneyland Paris motorhome area

One of the best options is to stay in the RV area located within Disney , next to the car and bus parking lots. Without a doubt, it's the best-located and most practical option for minimizing travel time between your RV and the Disney entrance.

Here are some details you should know about the area:

Price and payment of the Disneyland Paris motorhome area

The price is €40 per day (not per 24 hours) . Payment is due upon arrival for that day and first thing in the morning for each subsequent day.

TIP : Arrive in the morning, not at night, first thing and save €40.

Disneyland Paris motorhome area services

The motorhome area has basic services: drinking water and grey water disposal . But there's no black water disposal, although the most inconsiderate people do it in the grey water and even clean their toilets in the fresh water tap... disgusting, believe me!

To use the black water service (chemical toilet) you can do so at the gas station that is right at the Disney exit, you don't even have to leave the Disney parking barrier, it's right at the entrance/exit.

Finally, you should know that the Disney RV area has a basic building with showers and toilets, where you'll also find electrical outlets . If you need to charge anything or dry your hair, you can do so in the restrooms.

At least using these bathrooms and showers, you will not need to empty and fill water in your stay at Disney in a motorhome and you will avoid the filthiness of the services that it has for motorhomes.

Our personal opinion on the motorhome area of ​​Disney Paris

In our experience, sleeping in the motorhome area at Disneyland Paris is very convenient on the one hand , but on the other hand, it's neither nice nor cheap , especially considering the services offered by a simple parking lot with no good facilities for motorhomes and such basic bathrooms.

The only real positive thing about the Disneyland Paris campervan area is that its location right at the entrance saved us time and the hassle of going back and forth. However, if you're expecting convenience, for example, for going back and forth for meals or breaks, keep in mind that the parking for the attractions themselves isn't that close, so you probably won't get much use out of the area in that sense.

Another thing you should know is that not because you are inside the Disney compound does you experience a magical atmosphere, rather the contrary, you are in a simple cement parking lot with minimal services at the cost of a campsite but without services or amenities or landscapes of a camping.

The only good thing is that you will surely meet other families who will have the same opinion and you will have a chat room to criticize Disney hehehe.

How many days to go to Disneyland Paris by motorhome?

The length of your visit to Disneyland Paris will depend on your preferences and the time you have available. We recommend dedicating at least two days to Disney (one day for each park; remember, it's two parks in one) and one day to visit Paris, as it's only an hour away, and you can easily see Paris from Disney by bus or cruise.

With three days, you'll have the opportunity to really explore the two main theme parks— Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park—though the queues will likely prevent you from going on everything you want, especially if you go during peak season or on weekends. But staying an extra day and waiting in even more lines might overwhelm you, just like it did us.

If you're looking for budget-friendly dining options, I recommend bringing packed lunches and eating them on a park bench, or using the McDonald's at Le Village , located outside the park in the shopping area. It's the cheapest option in all of Disney. This is an excellent way to save money and satisfy the whole family's appetite, and Disney characters often visit.

Lines at attractions can be long, especially during peak season or on weekends, so be prepared to wait. Download the Disney app , which provides real-time wait times and allows you to take advantage of free FastPass+ service at some attractions to reduce your wait time. If you have extra time during your visit to Disneyland Paris, I recommend taking the opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Paris for at least one day.

One advantage of traveling by motorhome is that you can enjoy the freedom of moving around without having to change accommodation. You can continue parked in the area or campsite with your motorhome and use public transport from there to explore the city.

TIP: The option we recommend, which is the most practical, is a bus that picks you up right at the Disney entrance and takes you to the center of Paris , without having to take a train and transfer to the metro. Plus, the price is fantastic because the ticket includes a Seine River cruise!

This option saves the most time and reduces fatigue for the little ones . It's ideal for seeing Paris with young children. You can see Notre Dame and the main sights of Paris from the boat, comfortably seated and with an audio guide in Spanish. For us, this cruise was perfect so our children wouldn't get tired and could enjoy Paris.
