To start ... 3 tips about Cala Turqueta, Macarelleta and Macarella in a motorhome

1 Be responsible in a motorhome: the island is small, do not overcrowd, you see in low season

Before going to Menorca by motorhome you should know that it is a very very small island, so much so that in an hour by motorhome you travel it from end to end. That and the fact that the parking spaces are very small makes the best time to go to Menorca by motorhome is always out of high season, that is, outside of July and August whenever you want.

If you go in July and August in a motorhome, a recommendation: stay in one of the two campsites on the island and get around by motorcycle or in a small rental car.

Under no circumstances do you camp, be responsible, camping is totally prohibited on the island

Camping is prohibited in all of Spain, but Menorca is also a UNESCO Biosphere Heritage Site, for which all the more reason we must be the most respectful of the environment.

We know that the vigilance by the civil guard on the island is maximum before the encampments and that they are fined 200 euros for it because of what colleagues from the island have told us. So, do not camp and do not spend the night in the forbidden places.

REMEMBER, CAMPING IS OUTSTANDING THE PERIMETER OF YOUR VEHICLE (take out table and chairs, awning, open windows ...).

Know a minimum about the island of Menorca. Menorca guide in motorhome

We make it easy for you, here is a small guide to Menorca by motorhome with everything you need to know.

Cala Turqueta by motorhome what to see and do

A hidden paradise on the south coast of Menorca!

Cala en Turqueta is one of the most famous and recognized beaches on the island. Fortunately, on your trip to Menorca by motorhome you will be able to enjoy several coves. Every day one! And honestly it is beautiful, but in Menorca we did not see any beach that was not!

The southwest of Menorca, between the tips des Tambors and Na Forcada, is home to one of the beaches most desired by bathers. With just 110 meters in length, you have to wake up to find a place in Cala Turqueta.

Do you want to know what makes Cala Turqueta such a special place?

There are many reasons, including the turquoise color of its waters, its fine sand and being flanked by beautiful cliffs covered with pine trees. In an environment like this (it is part of the Natural Area of Special Interest of the South Coast of Ciutadella) it is not surprising that in July and August bathers “fight” to arrive early and put their towel next to the shore.

It is a virgin cove but it is equipped with services such as parking and toilets, including a picnic area to eat in the shelter of the pine forests. Another essential destination on your trip to Menorca in a motorhome that you have surely signed up for.

Its only handicap is that, due to its location, the sun leaves it early and also the access is not very good and less for a motorhome.

Cala Macarelleta and Macarella by motorhome what to see and do

Everybody wants to go to Cala Macarella. Why?. Cala Macarella is probably one of the paradises most spectacular in Menorca. This small beach hidden between rocks, has one of the more turquoise waters of the Mediterranean and a White sand and fine that is perfect to lie down for hours to sunbathe.

But really, there is no beach that is not with turquoise and transparent waters in Menorca, and surely less crowded than what we find in Cala Macarella.

Cala Macarelleta is her little sister, also virgin and highly appreciated as a beach nudist. You can get there from Cala Macarella by following the Camí de Cavalls. You will have a great time on your trip to Menorca by motorhome.

But from June to September, think that you cannot access the Cala Macarella car park, only from Ciutadella by taking a bus you can access. The best option is the Camí des Cavalls from Cala Galdana just 15-20 minutes on foot and with incredible views!

Cala Turqueta, Macarelleta and Macarella by motorhome how to access and where to spend the night

To access Cala Turqueta you must travel a very narrow road where not two cars pass. Luckily the car park, which is small and very dusty, has an indication system before taking the little road that alerts you if it is full or there are free places.

Now in a motorhome if you do not want to suffer on the road and maneuver, go from 19:XNUMX p.m., spend the night without camping, and be clear that you will be locked up the next day in the morning and do not move until after eating.

To access Cala Macarelleta and Macarella by motorhome from June to September it is impossible since vehicle closures are closed and can only be accessed by bus from Ciutadella.

Our option to access the three coves: the camí des Cavalls from Cala Galdana

We decided, warned by motorhomes in the area, not to go by motorhome to the Cala Turqueta car park or go by bus to Macarella.

The best option and that we loved was the Camí des Cavalls.

You can go on foot along the Camí des Cavalls, a beautiful path with incredible views and easy even for children. From Cala Galdana, where you can access, park and spend the night well, part the way and in 15-20 minutes you are in La Macarella, in 25-30 in Cala Macarelleta and in 45 in Cala Turqueta. With the views that there are and stops that you make, the path flies past, and incidentally we do salut and bikini operation, we loved the excursion! That is if the coves are very crowded and that we have come in low season in June.
