On the road through Menorca in a motorhome, we discover fairytale and pirate villages, beautiful coves, natural parks and charming castles. We also discover Menorca with children, with our children who broaden our gaze and make us enjoy it 200%.

Stay on our journey through our posts on our blog and start traveling with us to Menorca by motorhome.

To start ... 3 maxims about Binissuès in a motorhome

1 Be responsible in a motorhome: the island is small, do not overcrowd, you see in low season

Before going to Menorca by motorhome you should know that it is a very very small island, so much so that in an hour by motorhome you travel it from end to end. That and the fact that the parking spaces are very small makes the best time to go to Menorca by motorhome is always out of high season, that is, outside of July and August whenever you want.

If you go in July and August in a motorhome, a recommendation: stay in one of the two campsites on the island and get around by motorcycle or in a small rental car.

Under no circumstances do you camp, be responsible, camping is totally prohibited on the island

Camping is prohibited in all of Spain, but Menorca is also a UNESCO Biosphere Heritage Site, for which all the more reason we must be the most respectful of the environment.

We know that the vigilance by the civil guard on the island is maximum before the encampments and that they are fined 200 euros for it because of what colleagues from the island have told us. So, do not camp and do not spend the night in the forbidden places.

REMEMBER, CAMPING IS OUTSTANDING THE PERIMETER OF YOUR VEHICLE (take out table and chairs, awning, open windows ...).

The Benissuès house museum in Ferreries, an experience

It is a wonderful experience!

Binissuès is tradition, culture and history, a privileged natural environment where you can relive the rural life of Menorca, where you can get to know and feel the essence of the island.

Here, you take an incredible trip back in time to rediscover the ancient labors of the field. A family of actors, dressed in period clothes, recreates how they worked in the fields a hundred years ago.

When you enter the manor house, you enjoy very well-decorated rooms. The kitchen, with its large fireplace, is the main space for preparing food and for family reunions, especially in winter. The house also preserves the old stone oven and cheese factory. Spaces where workshops are held that we totally recommend to do with the smallest of the house.

An old haystack It houses the Binissuès ethnological collection that contains means of transport, such as cars from different populations, tools for working the land and for handling livestock, utensils for slaughtering pigs, and much more.

What to do in Binissuès: the different visit options

  • Visit the house museum and the museum of natural sciences of Menorca on your own
  • Take a theatrical guided tour where they teach you how to make bread, make cheese, feed the farm animals and thresh wheat among other things and ending with a tasting of km0 products. This was the experience that we chose and that we loved! We did it on a Thursday at 19:XNUMX p.m. and it is mostly outdoors. The kids loved it, since they could participate in everything.
  • Do a workshop for making traditional Menorcan cheese
  • Enjoy the G-astronomy Binissuès experience, Starlight Reserve that includes the activity of representation of field tasks, a visit to the house and museums and a stellar menu to finish with a guided astronomical observation.
  • Eat at the museum house restaurant

Where to park and spend the night in Binissuès in a motorhome

On the same farm in Binissuès we can park well in their parking lot, our 7,5 m motorhome was perfectly accessible, they have a large parking lot. To sleep they close the farm so we went to Es Mercadal.

In Es Mercadal we find the only motorhome area on the entire island of Menorca.

This area is public of the city council and is managed by the local police that is right next to the area.

The area is pay-per-use, whether you are just going to empty or go to spend the night. € 8 must be paid to the local police before any use. If they are in their offices attached to the area, you must call them by phone and they will charge.

To pay they only do it in cash and they give you a receipt.

The motorhome area of Es Mercadal It has electricity, gray water drainage, black water drainage, water filling, toilet and showers, in addition to a large area to park very comfortable and with shaded areas.

The area is of permanence maximum of 72 hours and camping is not allowedAlthough they are permissive in opening windows but not in taking out tables and chairs or taking out an awning, for that we recommend going to one of the island's campsites that you have detailed above.

    Good afternoon.
This summer we intend to visit the Netherlands and Belgium in a motorhome. We have been looking at your page and we really liked the minicampings. Do you think we should reserve the plots, or else it is not usually difficult to find free places. We have been left fly when we have read that the overnight stay is not allowed.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Jon, first of all thanks for your comment. The minicampsites are usually full in July and August, it is much better to reserve them so as not to have any surprises as happened to us. As for the prohibition of free overnight stay, I totally agree, it makes the trip not as easy and good as it could be, but we must respect the laws of where we are going and we have no other choice. You will see that the Netherlands is totally under voracious capitalism, everything is privatized and it shows. Even health, there is like the United States, there is no public, so take good insurance because even if you have the European card you will have to pay first and then here they will give you something back after years, it happened to a friend recently 🙁
