Bruges program of what to see and do in one day in order. We can't make it easier for you

Here our proposals of what to see in 1 day in Bruges city. In other words, we will see the essential Bruges, which for us are the most beautiful and surprising places in Bruges. A summary of what we liked the most after visiting Bruges for 3 days.

Our proposed program and itinerary to take a trip to Bruges in one day:

FIRST HOUR IN THE MORNING. Go to Mark Square, the Official Tourist Office and the Historium to warm up your engines

It's 9 a.m. and we started the Bruges city tour with joy. A route that will exhaust us as good travelers, but with which we will enjoy the beauty.

The first thing we are going to do is go to the nerve center of Bruges city: Mark Square or what is the same the main square of Bruges. There we will observe all the splendor of the city, crossing with our eyes the arteries of a surprising circular historical nucleus.

Inside the Historium museum, in its courtyard, we have the Bruges Tourist Information Office. A place where apart from getting a map of the city they will help us with all our doubts.

And since we are in the Historium, there is no better place to start getting to know this city than this amazing museum. And I do say surprising. A surprise for us and a very good one. I think it is one of the best museums we have been to in recent years. Combine that there is an audio guide in Spanish and a surprising and interactive visit through the history of Bruges told through a love story. If you ask my children what they liked best about Bruges, today they still say that the Historium.

And it is that the Historium of Bruges, although it is a little more expensive than other museums, is worth it, since then its history will accompany us throughout our entire route through Bruges city and even through other Belgian cities that we visit. The price is € 14 per adult and € 3 for children from 12 to 7,5 years old. I say that it is expensive precisely in comparison with the rest of the museums in Bruges, where children under 17 do not pay and tickets are worth about € 10 per adult.

Historium Bruges what to see in one day

Continue entering and locating yourself in Bruges city with a ride in a horse carriage or boat through its canals

The best of Bruges can be seen in a horse carriage or by boat. The boat trip was a must for us. Until we did, we did not get on well in the city. To go through its canals is to visit its main vertebrae and its most romantic and beautiful corners of Bruges. Undoubtedly this has given it many points to be a must of this Bruges article to see in one day.

The price is € 10 for an adult and € 6 for a child from 4 to 11 years old. a reasonable price for a ride of almost three quarters of an hour with live explanations in a little boat. Go to one of the piers and do it, it's worth it.

Stroll the fish market, get lost a bit in the streets and find yourself on the bridge of lovers

Witches what to see in a day is an article dilemma. An aubergine getting into prioritizing. And it is that everything is so beautiful in Brugge. After the boat you will start to position yourself. So, now it's time to walk around and see the places that from the boat have caught your attention in the distance. An example the bridge of lovers, an essential visit. And from there, stroll through the thousand little squares, alleys and get lost entering one of its churches. For us the most beautiful is undoubtedly that of the Holy Blood, a very curious double-height chapel next to the Town Hall. Finally, wear your shoes a little more in the neighborhood of the beatas, the beatario, a haven of peace still today.

TIME TO EAT. It's time to eat well, enjoy a typical meal in Bruges while you think about which museum you are going to visit

And so much street walking whets your appetite. It is time to eat and rest a bit, while we return to the guide and prioritize what to continue watching. Remember that you are in Bruges Belgium, here you eat between 12 and 13 hours. And even if you don't like it, I recommend that you eat at that time. Why? Well, because at 17:XNUMX p.m. they close everything, so you better eat now and take advantage of the afternoon, you will appreciate it later.

WITCHES WHERE TO EAT

Well, look there are so many restaurants in Bruges that I could not list them all. One day we ate in a typical friteria that is on the corner of Mark Square in front of the Historium and we liked it, good price and fast food and typical of Belgium (fries and also its excellent beef stew that we love). It may be an option, but as I tell you there are thousands! Look at the guide above, you have the typical Belgian dishes that you should not forget to try.

Bruges where to eat

AN ENTERTAINING AND CULTURAL AFTERNOON. You can't leave without seeing a couple of the good museums in Bruges or without seeing Michelangelo's Madonna. End the afternoon with culture

Another essential thing to see in a day in Bruges is one of the following museums that we loved (apart from the Historium). To continue with the history of the Historium we visited the Groningen art museum where we were able to contemplate Van Eyck's work of the canon among other precious Flemish works. And near Groningen is the Church of Santa Maria where to see the Madonna of Michelangelo and also the museum of one of the oldest Hospitals in Europe full of impressive works of art. Finally we loved the Beer Experience Brugge, a very interactive beer museum where we all had a great time as there is a treasure hunt for the little ones and, at the end, a tasting of Belgian beers!

Snack and don't miss the chocolates or waffles

Between museum and museum, don't forget to buy chocolates and eat a good whole waffle. It is not a question of getting fat, it is a question of knowing well the gastronomy of Bruges city and Belgium. And you know, Bruges where to eat? Anywhere! It is full of cute little shops that make waffles and chocolates for you.

Now that everything has closed, walk along the canal that reaches Damme and see the beautiful Windmills, if it is better by bike!

It is after 17 pm, after the waffle and chocolate, everything has closed in Bruges city. Well, what better plan than to walk the walk along the canal that goes to Damme and visit the mills? Posing photos are worth it, see how well they look 😛

Ahh and the walk along the canal, and the old city gates, between parks and watching the boats go by, a relaxing and beautiful pass.

There is also a mill that you can visit, although we could not visit it when we went.

TIME TO DINNER. Play a delicious dinner, do not miss the nightlife of Bruges city and its elegance

Again, so much walking has whetted our appetite. It's dinner, but this time no fast food. I recommend you go to a good restaurant, one of those with an elegant bohemian touch that is in Bruges and that there you delight yourself with its Moules Frites or its typical stew or shrimp croquettes. And all marinated with good Belgian beers.

WITCHES WHERE TO EAT

There are thousands of restaurants open for dinner. I can tell you about one that we loved, which is the Great Kaffe de Passage. Excellent restaurant, food and decoration with salsa music in the background. I would certainly repeat place.

Bruges where to eat

And if you dare to stay two days in Bruges ...

In two days in Bruges I would finish seeing the museums that you could not see of the ones I told you on the first day. I would also go to the chocolate museum, to visit the City Hall inside, to walk through the Minnewater and Astridpark parks, to eat at other good restaurants and to see the folklore museum if I go with children.

Bruges by motorhome. Get to know the Bruges motorhome parking area to spend the night

Bruges by motorhome is as easy as Belgium by motorhome. Just 10 minutes by bike from Mark Square you have a motorhome area, the Brujas motorhome parking next to the bus parking. There is also a bike path all the way to the center.

It is an area for paid motorhomes but a luxury to be so close to the center of this great city. The price is € 25 for 24 hours. It has all the services and you are surrounded by canals, boats and friendly bunnies that visit you especially at night.

It is certainly a good place if you are looking for motorhome parking in Bruges. If you go to Bruges by motorhome, don't hesitate to spend the night with your motorhome or campervan here.

It has all the filling and emptying services. It has picnic tables and a children's play area. It has no toilets or showers. You see that Bruges in a motorhome is very easy.

If you cannot find the water to fill the motorhome, it is next to the reception, of the building that you will see is in the bus parking lot attached to the motorhome parking. It took us a bit to find it.

One thing you must if you go to Bruges by motorhome and to this area, which happened to us, is that you will pay € 25 more if you spend even one minute out of 24 hours. They do not split for overtime, so be careful with the exit. That your trip to Bruges by motorhome or camper does not cost you more than it should.
