Bureta and her enchanted forest, an initiative of a mother and an association against depopulation

The Burosque of Bureta, an enchanted forest in Zaragoza, Spain, is an initiative created , first and foremost, by a mother from the village . Her daughter lost a tooth, and this resourceful mother made a little house for the Tooth Fairy, which delighted both her daughter and the neighbors.

From there, the wonderful initiative and current idea eventually led to the development of the Bureteandoando association . Its objective: to combat its growing depopulation and make Bureta a vibrant and attractive tourist destination . Today, Bureta seeks both families who want to live in the village and to become a family-friendly tourist destination.

What is and where is the Enchanted Forest Bureta Bureta

The Bureta Enchanted Forest, or Bureta Forest as some call it, is located 40 minutes from Zaragoza and is inhabited by fairies, elves, witches, and magical creatures. In Bureta, the enchanted forest is like a fairy tale that makes visitors feel as if they are in a magical world.

On our last family trip to Navarre , after visiting Zaragoza , we discovered this beautiful village full of surprises that captivated us. You definitely shouldn't miss the opportunity to see and experience it.

One of our followers , Montse, told us that Bureta itself was a surprise and that we should go. So we did, and we can truly confirm that Bureta is a beautiful surprise on any route through northern Spain you take.

The main reason for our visit was to see Burosque de Bureta, the enchanted forest, which we were sure our children would love . But we must say that Bureta is much more than that. Now we'll tell you all about it.

Park in Bureta

Our visit to Bureta begins by parking in its main parking lot, at the entrance to the village right behind its giant letters that say BURETA.

Do not access the nucleus with the car, the streets are narrow and complicated. This is a very, very large parking lot and it's dirt, but it's enough.

If you're traveling in a campervan or motorhome, it's perfect for spending a night, but precisely because the town and parking are so small, we advise you to leave space for other vehicles within 24 hours at most .

Sleep in a rural house in Bureta

If you're looking for a lovely place to stay and enjoy the village, we recommend the Casa Rural del Palacio de los Condes de Bureta , right next to the Palace, and highly recommended by all the locals. It's a beautiful place in the heart of the village, ideal for experiencing the village and enjoying all its charm.

On the way to Burosque de Bureta, enchanted forest

First, after parking, we set off to see Burosque. It's early, and we're the only ones strolling through the village, along with a few women who have just come from buying bread and greet us warmly. You begin to realize that this village is inhabited by wonderful people ; it's one of those things you notice in the looks and greetings of its inhabitants.

As we entered the village, we began to see decorations at almost every house entrance . Everything was homemade, recycled, and, it was clear, made with love. Little elves, fairies, and gnomes carved into logs awaited us at the doorways of Bureta's houses.

We arrived at a children's playground, equally decorated with recycled motifs, fun and, being Christmas, even more beautifully adorned.

In front, you'll find the Church of the Holy Cross and the village bar . A must-stop first ! The coffee and sandwiches are delicious, and the owner is a delight! Go and let her recommend something.

In 5 minutes from the parking lot, we finally arrived at the gates of Burosque. The signage is homemade and quite attractive in some places, with arrows and signs. There are two short trails, one straight ahead and another to the left along the stream, called the Luchán Park area.

Access is free and open to all.

Remember that, since it's free, you shouldn't miss visiting the bar, the village shop, and the palace . Being kind and spending money in the village is the best way we can thank them for such a wonderful initiative.

The tour and visit: the first straight section of the mailbox, the original Burosque

We start on the straight path, the initial and original Burosque.

First of all, we find a sign of Burosque de Bureta enchanted forest and a mysterious mailbox, I will not reveal what happens in it, just follow this advice and surprise you.

From here we let ourselves be amazed by all the little houses of elves, gnomes and fairies under the pines.

We continue the visit to the Burosque around the stream, the Luchán Park

We turn around and head towards the stream, cross the bridge, and there we find the other section of the Burosque de Bureta enchanted forest on the right, the one in Luchán Park . This area is later than the original and has been expanded more recently.

To the left of the bridge, we also find a small corner with a vertical garden, called the violet corner , which is beautiful.

At this point, we've just finished exploring the Burosque, in what we consider the most beautiful section. Beside the stream and among the fallen winter leaves, this spot is truly magical and worthy of an enchanted forest.

Facing the stream we also see the impressive Palace of the Counts of Bureta, a beautiful rear view.

The trail may seem small to some, but after all, it's not bad at all!

Remember that access is free, free and behind it there is a lot of artistic craft work from a lot of people. You have to appreciate it and a lot, because really, it's precious.

Del Burosque we will visit the old Bureta wineries

Just after leaving the Burosque in the Parque Luchán area, we can go down to the left and we will see old wineries buried in a mountain with their protruding chimneys. Some we see that are totally abandoned, we must be careful. Others are still in use.

Just when we were exploring them, Bureta finished us off with surprises. Suddenly, Aragonese jotas begin to sound at full volume. Our wide-eyed, surprised laughs shot up. The side of the people Its mayor after the jota, rigorously left to sound whole, announces that an item of clothing has been lost in Parque Luchán. What a coincidence, we saw it! Let's go look for it, but someone had already taken it, so we were left without visiting the Bureta Town Hall, it would surely have been another brutal experience.

From the hill of small wineries, we continue our walk. You can follow the path that leads to other wineries nestled among beautiful fields until you reach a reservoir about 3 km away. The Town Hall's tourism website provides information on how to access the reservoir and details about the unique Albarquete system, which has Roman and Islamic origins.

Before leaving we visited the Palace of the Counts of Bureta

Before leaving we decided to visit the Palace of the Counts of Bureta. They have recommended us to go in to do their guided tour and then stay for lunch since it has a restaurant.

Our surprise when we go to the entrance is that it is closed, everything and it is Saturday.

We see the sign that to do the guided tour we can call a cell phone and a boy who passes by tells us to call that without a problem they will open for us in a short time and we will do the guided tour. Our idea was to do the guided tour and eat there, but since the restaurant is closed and our little ones don't really want to visit the Palace, we decided not to call. Then, notice, that we regret not having done it. Everyone tells us that the interior of the Palace is beautifully preserved.

The village store, the last essential stop in Bureta

We decided, before leaving, to go to the village store. We have seen the bakery and we want to buy homemade sweets from the town, the kind that we are crazy about, and other things.

The shop girl, incredibly friendly , answered all our questions about Bureta. She told us the story of Burosque, explained that the Palace of the Counts of Bureta had just closed, and that they were looking for new people to run the Palace restaurant.

At the shop, a local woman recommends the most popular items among her neighbors. They're always spot on; a neighbor's recommendations are always excellent. The chocolate chip pastries are amazing, the olive oil muffins are delicious, and the doughnuts are pretty good too.

After a great purchase, we finally said goodbye to Bureta, having fallen in love with it and wanting to return soon to visit its Palace of the Counts and eat there.
