About PlanetAutocaravana

We are Javichu and Sandra, passionate travelers. We love discovering and photographing new places. Our trips are low-cost and we tend to be spontaneous . We set off with a destination in mind and always leave time for the journey to surprise us.

During the pandemic, we created our YouTube channel to help anyone who needed it, sharing our experience importing our motorhome from France. We've been traveling around Europe with it for two years now. In our videos, you can see information about the purchase and import process, as well as some repairs, DIY projects, and travel tips. We usually get around using our two bicycles, which aren't suitable for exploring the places we visit. As a fun fact, we have four children and a dog between us, but we travel alone.

We are already planning what trips we will do when all this is over!

Lago di Garda by motorhome: we fell in love!

On the way to venice

In August 2020, we were heading to Venice and were surprised by the night near Lake Garda, which was completely new to us. We stopped to sleep and when we woke up, we fell so in love with the place that we decided to spend 3 days there (if you can, we recommend at least 5 days).

With our bikes

We spent the night and left the campervan for two days in a free parking lot we found on Park4night (2, 45.488602,10.529400). The next morning, we took a beautiful 10km bike ride to Castello di Sirmeone, skirting the lake and passing through lovely places like Desenzano di Garda, Rivoltella, and Colombare, among others. Exploring Lake Garda by campervan is highly recommended.

During the ride, we noticed that the area has many campsites if you're interested in staying there. The route is beautiful and very pleasant, almost entirely on a bike path and quite flat. You can also travel by boat, which acts like a bus constantly going back and forth across the lake, although the most common mode of transport is by bicycle. You'll see tons of bikes!

Visit the Castello di Sirmeone and pack your swimsuit

A visit to Castello di Sirmeone is a must. We recommend buying tickets online, enjoying an ice cream while strolling through its streets until you reach Jamaica Beach. Don't miss it!

We were amazed by that beach… very different from the ones we're used to. Don't forget your swimsuits if you go in summer; you can take a dip in the Castello walls. It's definitely a swim in a unique setting , surrounded by lots of ducks. Oh, and it's highly recommended, especially if you're traveling with children.

Malcesine, a very picturesque place

The next day we headed to Malcesine. On the way we make several stops because we do not stop seeing beautiful places, beaches at the foot of the lake next to charming villages ... They are worth a visit even if it is quick.

When we arrive in Malcesine we go to a paid parking (€ 1 / h). It is the best option we found and it is located at the foot of the lake (90). With our bicycles we went to tour the town. We advise when you arrive to park them and visit it on foot since its streets are made of cobblestones and there are many slopes

Malcesine is one of those places that leaves you speechless with its beauty and picturesque charm, with its artisan shops and lovely, enchanting streets. After visiting the town, we hopped back on our bikes to explore the lakeside and see Malcesine from different vantage points. Without a doubt, Lake Garda in a campervan is a truly breathtaking experience.

You will take thousands of photos

You will like it as much as we do for sure !!. The vision of the town changes a lot from one place to another, which is more beautiful. Surely you take thousands of photos like us.

Don't forget your swimsuit; the heat and the water will tempt you to take a dip at any moment. We didn't eat at any restaurants, but we found the prices very reasonable . Javier had a coffee at one of the lakeside kiosks for just €1.

The cable car, highly recommended!

One attraction we recommend, but unfortunately couldn't do, was taking the cable car up Mount Baldo to enjoy its spectacular views. Since we didn't have a scheduled stop, we should have bought tickets online or faced incredibly long queues in the sun; so we decided to leave it for another time, which we'll definitely return to (you can check it out here ).

Without a doubt, it is an attraction that if you organize the trip you cannot miss. The views from what we saw on Google are unique!

Spending the night at Lago di Garda is free… if you find a place

The next day we visit what remains of the lake, which is not much, and we already head towards Trento to continue our route to Venice.

Overnight stays are free around Lake Garda as long as you can find a place to stay. Otherwise, there are many campsites and paid parking areas. We should mention that emptying grey water and toilet waste wasn't easy; there are hardly any places to do it, and those that exist are very expensive. However, the lake is absolutely worth it, and that was the only drawback.

Lago di Garda by motorhome: we will repeat ... for sure!

It was not part of our trip planning but we know that we will come back to do it whole because it deserves a visit in advance since there is much to discover in it, Lago di Garda has made us fall in love!
