The Roztocze National Park on our route through Poland
What to keep in mind?

On your trip to Poland you should visit the Roztocze National Park, located in the sunniest region of the country and very famous for its clean air.

What to see and do in Roztocze National Park

The Roztocze National Park is located in eastern Poland. Here you find green forests, silver rivers, a colorful mosaic of rolling fields and contact with nature.

It is a rich natural space with gentle slopes that are cut by deep ravines. The territory is bathed by the river Wieprz.

Forests, composed mainly of beech and fir trees, occupy 90% of the protected area. You will be surprised to see hundreds of trees that are recognized as natural monuments.

Among the animals, 190 species of birds stand out. In addition, quite a few reptiles and amphibians live in the park. Another attraction of the place are the tarpan horses (perhaps descendants of extinct Eurasian wild horses), considered the symbol of the park and horse riding, very popular in the area.

Roztocze stretches from Kraśnik to Lviv itself. Is divided into three parts: western, central and eastern. The latter is the wildest and culturally different.

What is worth seeing: Czartowe Pole Reserve

The Czartowe Pole reserve is one of the most beautiful attractions in Roztocze. It is located within the Solska Primeval Forest Landscape Park, near Susiec, and covers the gorge of the Sopot River with the ruins of an XNUMXth century paper factory.

You can enjoy a 1,4 km educational trail long it crosses the reserve. The route is divided into two parts: the upper path that runs through the picturesque forest to the Sopot river valley and the lower path that leads with numerous steps, platforms, wooden bridges and handrails that extend into the valley floor right next to it. and on the Sopot River.

Along the way, in addition to beautiful views, you find a cemetery with symbolic graves that is a national memorial site dedicated to the partisans who died during the battles with the German occupier in 1943.

Towns where life stops

The park is surrounded by small towns where stillness reigns and life seems stopped. The locals cook things as delicious as Wild boar loin or dumplings stuffed with cottage cheese and wild blueberries.

Visiting the Roztocze Park with dogs

Something you should know is that not all access trails and within the National Park are allowed to go with dogs. You will see the prohibitions in the entrances. Look for another path, there are alternatives.
