The Roztocze National Park on our route through Poland
What to keep in mind?
On your trip to Poland you should visit the Roztocze National Park, located in the sunniest region of the country and very famous for its clean air.
What to see and do in Roztocze National Park
The Roztocze National Park is located in eastern Poland. Here you find green forests, silver rivers, a colorful mosaic of rolling fields and contact with nature.
It is a rich natural space with gentle slopes that are cut by deep ravines. The territory is bathed by the river Wieprz.
The forests, composed mainly of beech and silver fir , cover 90% of the protected area. You'll be surprised to see hundreds of trees that are recognized as natural monuments.
Among the animals, 190 species of birds stand out. In addition, quite a few reptiles and amphibians live in the park. Another attraction of the place are the tarpan horses (perhaps descendants of extinct Eurasian wild horses), considered the symbol of the park and horse riding, very popular in the area.
Roztocze stretches from Kraśnik to Lviv itself. It is divided into three parts : western, central, and eastern. The latter is the wildest and most culturally distinct.
What is worth seeing: Czartowe Pole Reserve
The Czartowe Pole reserve is one of Roztocze's most beautiful attractions. Located within the Solska Primeval Forest Landscape Park near Susiec, it covers the Sopot River gorge and includes the ruins of an 18th-century paper mill.
You can enjoy a 1,4 km long educational trail that winds through the reserve. The route is divided into two parts: the upper path that leads through the picturesque forest to the Sopot River valley, and the lower path, which features numerous steps, platforms, wooden bridges, and handrails that extend along the valley floor just beside and above the Sopot River.
Along the way, in addition to beautiful views, you find a cemetery with symbolic graves that is a national memorial site dedicated to the partisans who died during the battles with the German occupier in 1943.
Towns where life stops
The park is surrounded by small villages where tranquility reigns and life seems to stand still. The locals cook delicious dishes such as wild boar loin or empanadas filled with ricotta cheese and wild blueberries.

Visiting the Roztocze Park with dogs
Something you should know is that not all access trails and within the National Park are allowed to go with dogs. You will see the prohibitions in the entrances. Look for another path, there are alternatives.

Access from Zwierzyniec
The park entrance is located in the town of Zwierzyniec, 90 km from Lublin. The regional capital, Lublin, is 150 km from Warsaw by road. A stay in the region, in addition to visiting the park and Lublin's Old Town, is perfectly complemented by health and beauty tourism at the Naleczów spa and visits to small, unspoiled Renaissance towns, such as the UNESCO World Heritage city of Zamość or the picturesque Kazimierz Dolny.
