Our visit to the Castle of Ussé de la Bella Durmiente with children

The second Castle to our credit on our route through the Loire Castles with children was the CASTLE OF USSÉ. This castle is also known as THE CASTLE OF THE SLEEPING BEAUTY.

We parked the Xirivica, our motorhome, in a parking lot that is right at the castle gate, therefore there is no bicycle today.

A little history of the Castle

The Castle was built and inhabited by the Duke of Blacas between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. Upon entering, they provide you with a map of all the areas that can be visited, a tip… don't miss anything, it's all worth it. We started the view by the tower of Sleeping Beauty (of course when you go with children). The tower has a permanent representation of the tale of Sleeping Beauty with wax figures (we think they were made of wax) and an infinity of furniture, toys, ornaments etc ... from the time. All the scenes take place behind some windows that enclose the rooms where the scenes that give life to the Disney tale par excellence are shown. In some reviews we have read that the scenes are somewhat out of date, we find that they define the time and the story very well, that they are out of date but the story is very old and that is its magic.

When descending from the tower you enter different rooms of the castle that have inert representations of everyday situations of the time with their furniture, wardrobe, kitchenware ...... they help you get an idea of the day-to-day life of the nobles of the time, among luxuries and privileges that very few enjoyed. We continue with the visit of the gardens (wonderful) and the stables that have a permanent exhibition of carriages. We finish the visit in the chapel that welcomes you with a very colorful stained glass window that acts as the central axis of the small white and bright chapel.

Ussé castle by motorhome: overnight stay and services

USSÉ BY MOTORHOME, WHERE TO STAY AND PARK:

We did not spend the night in this castle since we saw it in the morning and we moved at noon. The castle car park is right in front, at the door. You have to try to arrive early, the parking lot is dirt and not very big, it fills up quickly. There is no height limitation.
