Currently, Cuenca capital is building a motorhome area in the city for the many motorhomes and campers that we enjoy in this beautiful Castilian city. In a few months the works will be completed, so we encourage you, shortly, to come to inaugurate it.

From the area, you will be able to discover a city that uphill and downhill can be discovered very well on foot and of which there is no corner without waste.

Something that we highly recommend is to do a free tour or guided tour of Cuenca, that there are even some nocturnal visits that are well worth doing to get to know the city in one day. Also something useful, especially with children, is to take the tourist train of the city, which with the slopes helps to better support the visit to the city.

The Júcar river and the Cuenca beach

The lower part of the city is home to the river, a path with a pleasant walk through which you can reach the Hoz del Río Júcar and the so-called basin beach, where we can refresh ourselves pleasantly during the hot summer.

In addition, in the lower part of Cuenca you will find an essential that you must see in Cuenca, with or without children, since it surprised us all very much. A spectacular museum about dinosaurs. We have visited many museums and places of dinosaurs, and we assure you that the one in Cuenca is on the podium.

The Paleontological Museum of Castilla la Mancha: a place to marvel at the dinosaurs!

If you are a dinosaur lover, you cannot miss the visit to the Museum of Paleontology of Castilla y la Mancha (the MUPA), where a good sample of the paleontological heritage of this autonomous community of Spain is preserved, a must in Cuenca by motorhome. Or you can even take a tour of the dinosaurs of Cuenca, more extensive than you can see here

The mission of the museum is the conservation, protection, documentation and orderly exhibition of paleontological collections from the most important Cretaceous sites in Western Europe, both located in the province of Cuenca. They are the deposits of The Holes (Lower Cretaceous of La Cierva) and the hollow (Las Fuentes Upper Cretaceous), which cover the last 550 million years of earth's history and where high-quality fossils come from.

Through the museum, we can explore this "Land of Dinosaurs" in an educational and fun way with more than 32000 specimens, representing more than 130 genera of organisms, including partial skeletons of some large dinosaurs. Awesome!

In addition, this museum has impressive gardens, with beautiful views over Cuenca and spectacular life-size dinosaurs. A place that is well worth visiting if you go to Cuenca by motorhome, since, in addition, it has a parking lot reserved for motorhomes, although we cannot spend the night there, since the car park closes with the closure of the museum.

Old Town of Cuenca, a World Heritage Site

On the other hand, we recommend you go up to the old town of Cuenca, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visit its most emblematic places.

Among these places we recommend watch: The San Pablo Bridge, the Hanging Houses, the main attraction to see in Cuenca, the Plaza Mayor of Cuenca, the Cathedral of Cuenca, the Mangana Tower, the wall and the Castle.

Science Museum of Castile and La Mancha

But, in addition to these places we are going to make another different recommendation, essential if you go with children: the Science Museum of Castile and La Mancha, which is located in the same old town and is located in an old convent. Place where, in addition, you can see through crystals in the ground the deposits of the ancient city of Cuenca.

The museum is great, since it invites you not only to see and listen, but above all to participate, to touch and interact to discover vital principles of physics, among other knowledge, through experimentation.

The best thing is that there is a super well-priced combined ticket that includes the Paleontology Museum, the Dinosaur Museum, and this science museum for a more than attractive price of 7 €uros per adult. Also, if you go on a Wednesday, both museums are free!

Where to park and spend the night in Cuenca capital in a camper or motorhome

Cuenca capital is building a motorhome area in the city for the many motorhomes and campers that we enjoy in this beautiful Castilian city. In a few months the works will be completed, so we encourage you, shortly, to come to inaugurate it and park and spend the night in it.

When we went, the area did not exist and we parked in the parking reserved for motorhomes of the Museum of Paleontology of Castilla y la Mar, from there we then moved to one of the quiet streets around, where we visited the city and spent the night quietly.
