10 reasons to try classic cross-country skiing with kids

Advantages of cross-country skiing

1 Because it's not difficult at all to learn To do it. The slopes are much flatter than the alpine ones. It is like walking skating, a great advantage if you know how to skate and you like it!

Therefore, it is a good way to learn to ski, if you have never done any skiing. And if you are an alpine skier, it will be easy for you (although don't be too confident that you will dominate the first time, it is quite different).

2 Because if you like snowy forests and nature, but do not like risk sports or downhill skiing causes anxiety, you will love this one. Its alot more relaxed in all aspects and you enjoy a spectacular nature. Denjoy the landscape at all times, quietly and with incredible views. There is no rush, there is no running. Skis don't take you, you carry skis.

3 Because it is a lot cheaper. Cross-country skiing is at least half the price of alpine skiing. Both the forfets and the rental of equipment are much cheaper than alpine skiing.

4 Because the equipment is very comfortable. If you hate boots and overall all the heavy equipment that withcarries the cornergo tolpino, the ski of fondor it will give you a break. The boots are very comfortable, as if they were breaks, super light skis and comfortable and light clothing.

5 Because in the infirmaries of the fond ski resortso there are cobwebs. There are few accidents in this sport compared to other ski modalities.

6 Because with this type of ski, you can do it accompanied you yours younger children (with a sled with skis dragging) and even with from your dog (skijoring). Every time there are more tracks that allow it (an example Lles de Cerdanya from last year).

7 Because there are no crowds of people. Everything is relaxed, nobody sweeps you. There is silence and you live nature in an extraordinary way.

8 The previous point leads to a unique companionship among cross-country skiers, to greet each other on the slopes and help each other in any way.

9 Because it is a sport with which you exercise your whole body, legs, arms and also do it at your own pace, setting your times. Full exercise, but relaxed if you want or more cane if it is what you are looking for.

10 Because it is a sport that they can do it from the smallest of the house to the oldest. On the cross-country ski trails it is not uncommon to see people in their 70s and 80s. On the other hand, in the alpine ones it is very rare.

I encourage you to try it and leave your comment here 🙂

Although if you are one of those who loves alpine skiing, due to its speed and adrenaline, you will not like this warning 😛 surely you will say that it is boring lol

But those of you who are like me with more relaxed and quiet things will surely love it and you will find sense in these advantages of cross-country skiing. Of course, take it easy the first day, that like everything, one is not born taught! 🙂 A teacher also helps to start and pick up the technique.

Great places to try cross-country skiing are these two:

El Capcir, Nordic space for relaxation

Vall de Lord and Vall de La Vansa: Snow and ski bridge (alpine and Nordic) with children and dog in Port del Compte i Tuixent- La Vansa

If you want to try another activity in the snow like snowshoeing, I encourage you to read this post on how to start with a simple and very cool route: http://www.kucavana.es/iniciarse-en-las-raquetas-de-nieve/

Hello Maria! I think you will like it, although patience the first days is difficult but little by little. Tell us how it went on your way back 🙂
