  • The best of this getaway

    • The night spots, next to the great ski resorts, especially the Tuixent- La Vansa super quiet.
    • The Vall de Lord is very unexplored, very quiet and with the beautiful town of St Llorenç de Morunys, which has a motorhome area with all services, including electricity, for € 4 a day, with spectacular views of the valley and the Marsh of Llossa del Cavall.
    • Discover cross-country skiing (we had never done it before) and the slopes of Tuixent- La Vansa with trails and spectacular views over Cadí and the entire Pyrenees from the Refugi de l'Arp viewpoint.
  • The worst of this getaway

    • The roads from Solsona to Port del Compte and Tuixent-La Vansa, many curves and very narrow.
    • The youth parties in the Port del Comte car park.

TIPS FOR THIS GETAWAY

  • General

    • Plan in advance what you are going to ski to take a 2 or 3-day ski pass that costs more than buying it daily, if that is the case.
    • If you want to make classes, better call the ski school and book in advance, if not, there may not be hours or they will be given to you very late or at noon.
    • If you are a complete novice in skiing in general, start with cross-country skiing, it is simpler, safer and with children it is calmer and less bulky even at the equipment level, in addition to costing almost half.
    • At the Tuixent-la Vansa resort there are many cross-country and snowshoe circuits as well. The snowshoe pass is only € 4.
  • Specific if you travel with children:

    • In Port del Comte there is a Snow Garden, which for 55 Euros for children from 4 to 9 years old you have 2 hours of classes and 2 hours of guarded playground (4 hours of free skiing for parents hehej) or for € 42 ( morning) or € 35 (afternoon) 2 hours of class. And for the little ones without diapers there is a guarded playground for 2 hours € 30 and € 15 for additional hours.
    • For those who do not like skiing, in Port del Comte you can also enjoy the snow in an area of sleds and tubbies for € 14 per ski pass (plus 3 additional children or a parent on the same sled).
    • If you like to ski, you will know that the equipment for the little ones is expensive, we apart from buying the clothes in the Lidl When the ski outlet goes great, we buy second hand skis and boots in Puigcerdà, in all ski sport shops they sell second-hand equipment for children and adults. It is a very good option, since every year you take the old equipment and only for € 30, which would already cost you the set-up, they change you to new equipment of their size and with the set-up done. A great option.
    • At the Tuixent-La Vansa station there is a small toboggan run and children under 6 do not pay a ski pass on any track.
    • If you have kids between 2-4 years old, in the rental of equipment from Tuixent-LaVansa, they will leave you free skis (which look like toys and go without boots) so that the kids can start their first steps in the snow.
    • Making an igloo based on making the snow with bricks first is a great game to do with the kids in the snow.
  • Specific if you travel with dogs:

    • On the snowshoe tracks you can go with a dog on a leash, in the rest it is prohibited.
  • Specific if you travel with a motorhome:

    • Remember with the cold always put the heating on and leave it even when you leave, also you see putting the water heater so that the water does not freeze.
    • Always wear chains.
    • Climb the mountain roads at the time of car up and down the descents, do not complicate yourself, the roads are very narrow.
    • Park in the car park below at the end of everything in Tuixent-La Vansa, it is the flattest area.
    • We strongly advise you to take a special GPS for a motorhome or truck to put your AC measurements, in these mountain areas you go much more relaxed, it is a rest.
