Stage 3: From Constanta to Uldinguen – 26 km of family adventure

We continue to explain our bike tour of Lake Constance with children as a family that we did this summer, today towards Uldinguen. An experience of almost 180 km pedaling as a family and staying in campsites with our tent, which we all enjoyed very much.

Today it's time 3rd stage, the 3rd day en route, of this adventure, after yesterday's day of the Stage 2 in which we arrive at Constanza and the Stage 1, from Austria, to Arbon, Switzerland (38 km).

This third stage of our journey has become one of the most memorable for us. Not only because Bikeway offers minimal slopes and, for the most part, descents, but also thanks to the many visits to beautiful towns and exciting museums that the German region of the Lake Constance, for me the most beautiful part of the route we have done along Lake Constance by bicycle.

Departure from Constanza towards Uldinguen

We start this exciting day with a hearty breakfast in the cozy Camping Bruderhofer of Constanza, our home during our stay in Constanza. This campingWith its Playa next to the lake and impeccable services, it had completely captivated us last night and today we woke up with full batteries for this 3rd day of the bike route.

First Stop: Flower Island – Mainau

Our first stop of the day is Flower IslandKnown as Mainau. On the way there, we made a small mistake when following the directions of Google Maps instead of the Bikeway central. Despite the steep hills, we were able to enjoy spectacular views of the lake and fields full of cows. These panoramas made the climb worth it.

At the moment of arrival to the Mainau Island, we realized that it cannot be accessed freely. Purchase of one is required general entry which includes access to museums y palaces.

Since our intention was to make a quick visit, we opted not to go in and here comes the exciting part. We decided to take a ferry to cross to the other side of the Lake Constance and avoid a section of the route that had steeper terrain and, from what we had read, was somewhat boring.

Our main goal was to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for the kids, and in that heat, we also wanted to take things slow.

Crossing the Lake: The Ferry Crossing

We head to ferry of Dingelsdorf, which was included in the Bondensee Card. However, we made another small mistake when changing ferry to gain a time of 15 minutes (I left earlier) and we headed to Wallhausen, which turned out to be a private ferry. But as we often say, adventure They always have surprises!

Überlingen: A Charming Medieval Town

El ferry He took us to Überlingen, a town with a medieval charm that captivated us for its tourist hustle.

Here, we take the Bikeway adjacent to lake and we continue our way towards Uldinguen, our destination for the day.

The journey there is simply beautiful, with lonely beaches adjacent to lake where we could stop and enjoy the scenery. Although there were some stretches close to the road, these were brief and always safe.

Birnau: Vineyards, Vineyards and Delicious Cherries

The journey towards Birnau It was a real pleasure, since we passed through immense Vineyards y vines in the middle of a dream landscape. From there, we contemplate the views of the Maurach CastleSurrounded by Vineyards and next to lake. A magical place.

On our way, we came across a stall cherries and we couldn't resist the temptation of trying these delicious fruits, the best of the entire trip.

Finally, we arrive at our base campsite for the day, the Camping Birnau-Maurach, which quickly became our favorite campsite of the entire journey. with his Playa in the lake, quality restaurant or with a Games area, the children were excited.

But what excited them most was the large number of tricycles available. Our little ones had the most fun!

Uldinguen and UNESCO cultural treasures

After settling in, showering and enjoying lunch, the children had a good time having fun with the tricycles. The afternoon promised even more adventures. We decided to continue by bike and visit the stilt museum en Uldinguen, a declared place Heritage awarded by the UNESCO.

This museum, which we could visit for free with the Bondensee Card, offered us a unique experience different from others European museums. The stilt houses They are old houses built on pillars in the lake during the Bronze Age, a truly impressive site.

Finally, upon leaving the museum, our little ones also enjoyed playing in the stilt playground which is next to the museum.

Rest and preparation for the next stage 4

After a day full of emotions, we returned to the camping. The evening turned out to be long and exciting, as our little ones made new French friends and enjoyed racing. tricycles and games. It was a perfect evening to conclude an ideal day on our bicycle route around the Lake Constance with children.

And so, our stage 3 concludes, but there are still more exciting things to come adventure in the following stages. I promise that in the next installment I will share our exciting visit to Austria and the surprises that await us in the Lake Constance. You can't miss it!
