Karpacz on our route through Poland
What to keep in mind?

Day 1 of our trip to Poland: After the long trip from Barcelona and arriving very short of energy, for the second dose of the Covid vaccine, we decided to make our first stop near the visit to Karpacz.

We take the opportunity to buy typical Polish products, get money (zoltys) and look for a campsite to rest in Karpacz.

After eating and resting, we got a big surprise, it turns out that the town chosen for our first visit, Karpacz, is very touristy, it's the Polish Alps! (with its climate, but with peaks of 1600m). A great success to start enjoying Poland on the right foot!

Karpacz, has a lot of leisure offer, both in winter and in summer, a museum dedicated to tourism and sports, another of toys and even an anomalous gravity point full of legends! Break is over, let's find out!

On your trip through Poland, you must visit Karpacz and the Karkonosze National Park with the peculiar Viking Church of Vang. It is to tell! A fairytale town with an impressive nature!

What to see and do in Karpacz

Karpacz in winter is full of skiers and snowboarders. When the snow melts, hikers follow the surrounding trails to admire the spectacular mountains of the Karkonosze National Park. Notes!

Giant mountains

The route to Śnieżka, the most famous peak in the Karkonosze Mountains is for people in good shape. If it seems too much for you, there are options: a nice and easy tour on the walk to Samotnia (blue trail) or a walk in the woods near Karpacz, at the foot of the mountains.

We tell you that some routes are really very friendly, wide and paved, ideal for children or parents with sports strollers. Of course, some recommendations !: have something warm, check the weather and… Done!

To enter the National Park, you have to pay 2 euros per person at the ticket office, don't forget your ticket. This ticket office is right in front of the Viking Vang church, which we will now tell you about.

Oh, a Viking temple!

What is a Norwegian temple doing in the heart of the Karkonosze Mountains? Well, it was the idea of the King of Prussia Frederick William IV, who in 1841 bought a XNUMXth century Nordic church.

They say the Wang o Vang Church It is the most famous Viking temple in Poland. Here, tourists form small groups and listen to stories about Norse symbols intertwined with Christian symbolism.

Did you also know that this impressive structure was erected without the use of a single nail?

«Wild» waterfall

The Łomnica River has always been a problem for Karpacz causing tragic flooding from thaws and snow avalanches. Therefore, the authorities decided to control the river by building protective reservoirs and a dam.

This is how the Wild Waterfall was created, which is not really a natural waterfall. However, the picturesque location In the shade of the trees and easy access, travelers visit it and take a curious souvenir photo.

The Toy Museum

This is undoubtedly a special place where the impressive collection of Henryk Tomaszewski, the founder of the pantomime theater and Karpacz's neighbor, is on display.

In their cabinets there is everything: popular figures here, Christmas carols there, merry carriages, wooden horses, wax dolls, toys from far away Asia, huge dollhouses, figurines produced in the communist cooperatives in Poland, a collection of teddy bears, Japanese dolls ...

At the Toy Museum, adults are transported back to their early childhood and children discover how fun games were in other times and countries.

More attractions for children

If you go to Karpacz with children, we leave you some interesting proposals. Nearby is Western City, which recreates the atmosphere of a cowboy town, and at 3 Maja Street there is a small Lego construction museum ... and also ... .

Ice rink, ropes and sleds on rail

If you do not want to rest, do not miss other attractions such as the ice rink, throughout the year.

In addition, you can enjoy a rope park where you can test your physical condition and overcome your fear of heights. This type of entertainment is becoming more and more popular!

Not far away, there is the Kolorowa toboggan run, in the middle of the center in summer you can also go down a very fun rail toboggan run and if you are inclined to the educational value of the trip, you should visit the Park Information Center Karkonosze National, offering a mineral exhibit, a three-dimensional model of the mountains, or a sample of wild herbs.

Where to park and spend the night in Karpazc by motorhome and park in the Karkonosze National Park

Karpazc has different campsites and in this case we decided to park and spend the night in a very small and central one. 2 minutes from the center of this beautiful town. The price for one night was about 12 euros for 4.

To visit the national park we moved and parked the motorhome in one of the parking lots at the entrance, reserved for buses and motorhomes that for about 4 euros you can stay all day and even night if you ask for a little more. Mind you, you are on the road.
