Menorca by campervan: our 26-day experience

Menorca by campervan: discover an essential destination in the heart of the Mediterranean that will captivate you!

About @nomadak_bask

We are a couple from the Basque Country. Our names are Idoia and Ellande. We traveled in a vw california beach T6. And you will wonder how @ nomadak_bask came about ...

We love the mountains, especially in winter, but it does not mean that we are also passionate about the rest of the seasons ... we believe that each one has its charm. The most beautiful thing is that without our van we could not reach many such wonderful places. We like our culture, being friends with our friends. The most important thing for us is to travel in our van discovering new destinations.

Menorca by campervan: a paradise for your holidays!

On our trip to Menorca by campervan we have discovered that it is an island where Free overnight stay is allowed.. As long as we respect the rules AND DO NOT CAMPING (and remember camping is taking tables, chairs or leaving in any way from the perimeter of your vehicle). Important!.

We can tell you that the options for sleeping are many:
1 / Motorhome area in Es Mercadal, with emptying and filling.
2 / Menorca has two campsites.
3 / Free night.

According to our personal experience, circulation in Menorca With a camper it is perfect since moving around the island from one end to the other is very easy and fast. There are no tolls.

Our base camp, in Son Bou

Our trip has been 26 days on the island of Menorca with a camper van. Our base camp was the Son Bou campsite. The location of the campsite is perfect since it is located in the middle of the island, making it easy to move both north and south of the city quickly.

And you will wonder ... Why do we choose to install a base camp in a campsite having a campervan?

The answer is easy !! Staying overnight for 26 days in a row in Menorca is very hard for us because due to its high temperatures and lack of shade, we decide to go camping at a campsite. and ... above with a swimming pool.

We were very clear that we wanted to travel as much as possible since we had a lot of days ahead of us. We got down to work and here we leave you some of the best coves, things to see and visit on an unforgettable tour of the island of Menorca by campervan.

Coves and beaches

Cala en Brut: for lovers of jumping

It is a cove where there is no sand, but some concrete esplanades. Snorkeling is wonderful since its waters are extremely transparent. The site is perfect for lovers of jumps and adrenaline.

We loved it !!… ..

Binigaus Beach

Beautiful beach with fine sand and clear water. Very recommended to go with children for those who want a little more tranquility. At the end of the beach is a nudist zone in which you also find crystal clear waters and fine sand ...

Cala`n forcat

This is, without a doubt, a different cove from what we have in mind ... something more touristy. It has a hotel but knowing how to choose a good time you can find a good place without having to get up early.

Ah! ... bring snorkel gear ...

The other coves that you cannot miss

On your trip to Menorca by campervan you cannot miss other wonderful places. For instance Cala d` alcaufar and Cala Galdana. In addition, it is essential to enjoy Cala Vidrier and Cala Turqueta. And of course, don't stop seeing Cala Macarelleta and Calo Blanc.

What to see in Menorca, with your camper van

Binibeca

It's a fishing village with white houses and narrow streets. We think it is a must see as the town is beautiful ...

We recommend, after visiting the town, make a stop at Caló Blanc, a small and beautiful cove that is 5 minutes from the town and easily accessible.

Pont d `in Gil

Nature's wonder!. We cannot describe it in any other way: a natural suspension bridge, molded by the force of the waves from where you can contemplate the neighboring island of Mallorca and a dreamy sunset ...

Cap d'artrutx

Spectacular place to observe some dreamy sunset on your trip to Menorca in a camper van and be able to spend the night. This place, specifically, we loved it. We slept a few nights and it is a very quiet area.

Viewpoint of the bull

You are in front of the highest viewpoint in Menorca. As you can imagine, the perspective of the island is incredible. We tell you that it is a recommended place for the night (we spent a few nights). It is essential to visit the town of Es Mercadal where some of the best ensaimadas from Menorca !.

Cap de Favaritx

Fascinating lighthouse! ... the one we liked the most. It is in the northern part of the island in an inhospitable and very Martian terrain. Painted in black and white, it is the lighthouse that has most impressed us.

Rent a boat (without license)

It has been the star activity of this summer. Has been One last!! to be able to travel the island by sea for a day and to be able to stop and drop anchor near the most beautiful coves of the island.

Therefore, we believe that it is a totally recommendable and unforgettable activity: crystal clear waters, bathing with a lot of fish, touring the island along the coast has been a success ...

Essential activity on a holiday in Menorca with a campervan.

Surf in Menorca

And to finish, It seems surprising but in Menorca you can surf!

In principle, it was not within our plans since we did not know the possibility of being able to practice it. We were lucky enough to meet a wonderful family on the island and they immediately offered to help us get us a board and find the best waves on the island.

They took us to a secret spot and we were able to enjoy a wave session with friends in private. The truth is that we left with a very good taste in our mouths.

Menorca surprises… and it is because of this kind of thing!

Good afternoon, we want to travel to Menorca in our van the first week of September, we want to go to the Son Bou campsite for a couple of nights, but we also want to spend a few nights in a nice place, without camping, my question is the following:
We can cook? We have a citroen berlingo and we have the camper kit, so we have to have the tailgate open to cook, is that considered camping? or is it part of the perimeter of the van?

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello Marina, what a good plan you have for September, a good time and a great place! Regarding camping, it is legally understood to stand out from the perimeter of the vehicle as a general rule, so if you cook inside I don't think they will tell you anything at all. Enjoy Marina very much! All the best!

Hello! thanks for your post!! it's super good! We had to change our plans at the last minute and we are thinking of going to Menorca with the van next week. My main doubts are the issue that there are many people and it is impossible to park. Did you go in summer? Thank you!!!

Hello family! We went in June, and there were just beginning to be quite a few people, since in San Juan there are Ciutadella festivities. In some places it was already difficult to park and we had to go around, but in the end it's like always, go ahead and the place will be found 😉 Have a wonderful trip!
